Having the number will allow getting insurance shopped and set up (some companies won't give firm price until you have the VIN), and with build tracking posts on this forum, can track and project actual date of the car build.
Hi,
I am curious why people want their VIN# before the car is built and actually delivered.
Thanks
People have been waiting for over a year for production of their C8. Once you reach 3400 status, you are able to get the VIN. Having the VIN gives you an idea of the actual production date / final assembly day. There is a thread titled 2023 Production Spreadsheet that lays out the timing for that build.
As mentioned, you can track your car with the last four numbers in your VIN as it goes through the Factory Event Status Codes from 3000 "Order Accepted by Production Control" to my favorite code 4200 "Vehicle Shipped".
My order is 3400, scheduled for build next week. I have been waiting since September 2022. Alaska does not get many allocations, about 1 every 2 month. It will be here just in time for the snow.

If you've been waiting since September 2022 you must have a time machine or gotten a REALLY quick turn-around on your order.
