2023 C-8 Squeaky Brake Problem ( Solution)
Just purchased a 2023 C-8 with Z-51 Package after waiting 18 months. Drove the car home 100 miles from the dealer and the brakes would squeal only at low speed stops. Very annoying and embarrassing! I read some of the forums and found people with similar problems although none with only 150 miles on their C-8. I watched a video on "How to bed the brakes properly on Corvette with Z 51 package as the brakes are designed to be Track Ready. Today I took a drive early in the morning on a two lane highway with virtually no traffic. I quickly accelerated to 60mph and then braked hard (no ABS) to 5 mph. I repeated this 10 times. Then I drove another couple of miles to cool the brakes. Bedding brakes means you are trying to transfer pad material on to your new shiny disc, evenly. This optimizes brake performance. Looking at all 4 discs it seemed to have worked, I successfully transferred brake pad material on to the disc, it was pretty obvious after watching the video. So before any of you take your car ( Z 51)to the dealer for squeaky brakes where they can only lube the caliper, or replace for a significant cost with a different Pad Material, try this it seemed to have worked.
