I know it is not an exact science, but how do you predict the delivery date for your C8. We have to fly from the west coast to east and want to spend a few days sightseeing in Washington DC,
then pick up the car. We want to buy an airline ticket as far in advance as possible.
What is the plant code you can depend on; 3300 Scheduled for production, 3800 produced, 4000 available to ship.
I'm not sure how the TPW fits into all of this. I guess we could wait until it is 3800 and then buy a ticket for a few weeks out, that should be safe. How do you really know, unless you wait for 5000 Delivered to Dealer.
What is a good timeline marker to start planning your trip around?
5000 Delivered to dealer is the only date you can truly count on. Even after it is shipped, the transport can breakdown, driver has an issue, etc. It happens. Heck, there have even been transports that caught fire, been involved in accidents, etc.
Most of the major airlines have no change fee as long as it is made prior to the day of the flight. Check your airline.
You are throwing darts at a calendar and hoping for the best, however approx 10 days to 2 weeks from your build date to delivery to your dealer is a pretty good estimate if your C8 is going to MacMulkin or Criswell.

Good point. Produced 3800 or available to ship 4000 could still have a big delay. How many times have we read that it is on a truck, and the truck is stalled.
If we travel early, we would be stuck in a hotel another day, another day. That could be bad.
I guess the only choice is to wait until it is delivered and then buy a flight.
I would imagine that the dealer may want the payment if it is going to sit there for more than a week.
Don’t forget it still has to go through PDI after it gets to the dealer and depending on workload could take a couple days also. My 23 was tracking to be delivered on Friday/Saturday per the shipper and it actually arrived on Monday morning, didn’t get finished PDI until Wednesday morning and I picked it up in the afternoon.
