Default Lowering Question

My 2022 C8 is equipped with Z51 and front lift adjustable height options. I would like to lower it 1" front and rear.

Does the car have adjustable oem lowering capability, and if so, how much can it be lowered front and rear?

if not, which is a better lowering choice, lowering springs (ie: Eibach), or less expensive lowering collars (ie: Paragon)?

Thank You.

The Z-51 has the adjustable coil-over dampers..You should be able to lower the car by turing the collars on your shocks...There are scads of info on this forum pertaining to adjusting the suspension. My C8 is a non Z-51 so I added the lowering springs from Paragon and it brought my car down an inch F&R...

Since you have the Lift Option, for the front you'll need paragon collars. The rear's can be adjusted with proper wrenches.

The front's have a hydraulic Lift cylinder that replaces the adjustable threaded section of the coilovers. You can use Paragon collars (best have a pro install who has done it successfully before.) Better than cutting springs! Most lower replacement springs are designed for Tracking, and are also stiffer, look carefully!

Be aware that the installation of the Paragon collars have caused numerous problems WRT lowering, throwing trouble codes. At least one of these installations resulted in a loss of warranty initiated by the dealer on that part of the suspension system. That one installation was installed by a "professional" shop too. Think long and hard if you want to chance it.

If you have Front Lift, you will need Paragon collars, which gives you only a .75 inch drop.

Thanks to everyone for all the input. i'll be going with Paragon lowering collars front, and adjusting the rears with the paragon tool.

To get a full 1" you will need to get lowering springs. Paragon also sells these. Collars and factory coilovers will only get you a .70" drop. Either way, if you have mag ride you will need to de-pin the mag ride connectors which is a PITA in my experience. You did not mention mag ride though, so you should be good there.

Good call. This will give you a perfect stance and fill the wheel wells out nicely.

If you want it “level” I suggest that when you do, you leave at least three threads on the rears. Otherwise if you use the collars up front and drop the rears all the way, your stance will angle up and your front gap will be noticeably more than the rear…

Which one is more important to u? Factory warrenty or 1" drop??
when u get that "service front lift" light on, your dealer may not service your modified suspension.
play at your own risk.

I used the paragon collars and the stock Z51 adjustment for the rear. I have the front end lift and MSRC.
This did a 0.75" in the front and 1/2" in the rear. If you want to go 1", you will probably be best going with springs, eibach, etc.

I didn't have problems with the collars, but I installed them CAREFULLY myself, and it wasn't super trivial process. Lot's that could go wrong, and apparently for some people does go wrong.

One of the youtubers did 1" lowering springs and had to replace all his MSRC shocks by 30k miles. Not saying the drop caused the issue, but it is a bit suspect. Of course, who knows what he does to that car.

Yeah and he also mentions that they said something about the after market wheels. But mostly was due to having the springs and they would not warranty the Mag ride dampers to be swapped due to some leaking. But these are not crazy expensive and just a risk you take. Not all dealerships are alike and if he was able to use the same dealership he was using instead having to go to another probably the outcome would have been different.

I have the same setup as you and was not happy with just the collars, it still sat too high for my taste.

I had the Paragon lowering springs installed but added their shim kit which added 1/8" or so back in. I love the stance and it's been on over a year with no issues, tightens up the suspension a bit too.
