Default Installing CATS only.

Hi guys I received my 2M fabrication 200 cats and was wondering if the exhaust & bumper has to be removed to install them . From the videos I looked at the factory cats have long studs that go into the header flange, not sure about the removal procedure.

Why are you only putting cats on and nothing else or do you have an aftermarket exhaust.

no you do not have to remove the bumper to do the cats on a coupe. I did the catess 2m pipes on my c8 and was a easy install once you get the dam airbox out.

Thanks for answering my question.
And yes, I can relate to the pain in the *** that air box is to remove. I used a dremel tool and removed some material from the opening trying to get this air box out, looking for that BRASS transmission fill bolt. I never got it out all the way when I installed the DCT oil.

Do you think by installing these aftermarket cats will void my warranty????

My friend installed Soul Performance CATS a while back and he did it from the top side, and did NOT have to remove the back bumper, or factory exhaust. He did mention that he had to use a sawzall to cut off the long studs from one side of the original cats. As he said....... " there's no turning back now" LOL !!!!!

Took him a total of 5 hours. Sounds GREAT ! NO codes, etc. He got the "200 cell" CATS with the stainless wrap blankets. They show dyno increase of 17 HP on their website.

Certainly can void your emissions warranty. If you would need to take it for warranty work, you may consider removing and re-install the stock ones.

Yes, if you have an engine related issue, GM will use the cats as an excuse to deny warranty coverage. There's zero question about that. They might use it as an excuse to deny a warranty claim on anything in the drivetrain or engine compartment. They won't "void" your entire warranty, but the warranty is based on OEM or equivalent parts, and those cats are definitely not OEM equivalent.

Watch and learn, from the guy at GM who will make the ultimate decision if it goes that far:

Do headers & intake at the same time and the cats will be a piece of cake install.

I also highly recommend going with 49-state EPA-compliant cat cores such as those used by Corsa or any of the other companies (aFe, Paragon, Cicio, & Kooks) using the GESi G-Sport GEN2 S-Wound 400-cell cores which were designed for 2017 & newer vehicles.

You're comparing apples to flamingos. Zero drone with sport cats on the C8 as long as you retain either the stock muffler or an aftermarket one with AFM/NPP valves. My car (headers + cats on the exhaust side) is no louder in tour mode when cruising down the highway at any speed than it was bone stock fresh from the dealer. The ONLY difference is the AFM V8/V4 transition is a little more pronounced.

Just installed the 2M Performance sport cats, Sounds AWESOME !!!
I am impressed with the snap crackle pop and extra HP boost. I could feel the performance difference.
My only problem is, I didn't install the 2 extra deck bungs that came with the cats and I have a check engine light. Wondering if I install these O2 bungs on the cats if the check engine light will go away..

What does code P0430 Bank 2 mean?
Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold
P0430 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for “Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2).” The code warns about a problem with the catalytic converter mounted near engine bank 2 (the side of the engine opposite the number one cylinder) ..........WHICH SIDE IS BANK 2, ??????

JMO, but not worth the chance of a warranty claim being denied for something like changing out the cats.

Thanks for that. I enjoyed viewing that. For those that want to skip right to the part regarding modifications and warranty coverage, that begins at the 10 minute mark.

One last thing, here’s two screengrabs from the video. What’s this woman think she’s doing?!?!?
