There are a few C8s in this area, but I just do not see them all that often. As for the other generations, seems like the owers are not into returning a wave. I take solace in the fact that I still do my part to keep the wave alive.

I don't wave for the simple reason if I do theres one less person to make a "this guy didnt wave at me thread" on the forums and that would be just tragic cause these are always so entertaining lol
I live in an area where there are very few C8's. But I have noticed during my daily travels that if I see another Corvette (C2-C7) a lot of these owners don't respond to the wave. So this makes me wonder if these folks don't recognize the C8 as a Corvette. Just curious but have others found this to be the same in your areas.

You can even see this dynamic at work here on these forums. I won't out anybody, but I've seen quite a number of C7 owners who dogged the C8 way back in 2018 and 2019 on here... up until the point they got a C8 and then their attitudes did a 180. One poster, who has over 7,000 posts made numerous posts complaining about the styling, the engine layout, the cash grab pricing, and about the opinion that the C8 just isn't a Corvette. Sometime in mid 2021 he apparently got a C8 and replaced his C7 Z06. Now, the C8 is exotic, beautiful, fantastic and the ultimate example of American sports car refinement. There's an old saying that goes, "That which he cannot have is hated, until the time comes when he gets it and falls in love."
The other thing I've noticed is how Camaro drivers often give me the wave too. Maybe it's because I don't see a Corvette as a Chevrolet really... it's built by a dedicated Corvette team after all. But I just don't see the Camaros as being on the same team.

I'm really not sure why its such a hard concept for Corvette people to understand that some people plain and simply just do not care to partake in the wave and that is their prerogative. It has nothing to do with envy, jealously, spite, or malice... they just dont want to play the stupid game.
Two things here. I too have noticed that C7 owners don't respond to the wave. Personally, I think it's more envy based. Think of it like a beauty pageant. When the newly crowned queen wins, she waves to everyone. When the crown gets usurped by the next new thing, then that one is the top dog and the prior queens get put off as they're no longer the cool one. I can attest as to how many times I've heard, "Nice C7, what do think of the C8 though? Gonna get one?"

I have a question about the "wave" - I do my best to always wave, but I typically have my windows up. My windows are pretty tinted, so not sure if people can really see my hand waving through it. There have been occasion where I rush to roll down the window and wave, but it seems ridiculous. What's the full documented official protocol here? lol

I haven't seen many other C8s on the road, but ironically, since getting my C8 a couple weeks ago, I've only met one other Vette in traffic, and it just happend to be another C8 HTC. We both had the tops down and threw a big wave out the top!

Yesterday, we took a drive on the back roads - a long, lonely stretch with a railroad track on one side. Way off, we see a train headed our direction. As it gets closer, I held my hand up through the open roof and waved. The engineer immediately sounded his horn for us. He must have been watching us approaching, too. It brought back memories as a kid when the 18-wheelers would honk for me; but that was my first train. Waving isn't just for the drivers.
Love this car! It's no longer about the destination - it's the drive!

I always wave to all other Corvette drivers. I would say I get a return wave 90 percent of the time and there seems to be no relation to the version (C1-C8) they’re driving.
My first Vette was a C5 in 2001 and I’ve not really noticed any change in the wave since that time.
I think it’s a cool nod to the other driver to just say hey look’n good.

You know how the rumor mill works in a small neighborhood. Well there was rumor rolling around that someone bought a McClaren 720. That someone turned out to be me. No excuse for another corvette owner to mistake a C8 for a McClaren in passing but amongst non-car people it happens.
since we are resurrecting old threads........heres a suggestion...... lets do the duck thing like the jeep folks. Then we can trade ducks with them too!!!!! This stuff is important.
In my retirement world the old farts driving C8s have there hands full driving the car least of all waving too!!!!
