Parked my car in the garage as usual. Opened the door to exited and noticed the display screen, radio and HUD stayed on. Didn’t think nothing of it, assuming they would turn off in a few minutes. Didn’t drive the car for two day, got in and notice the car would not start. Pushed the start button and got no response, the car didn’t attempt to start. Pushed the start button until most of the juice was out of the battery. Had to use the emergency door release button to get out. Hooked some jumper cables, the electric components powered up. The radio, display screen, Apple CarPlay all had power. Tried to start the vehicle and got no response from the engine. It did not try and turn over. Thought it just needed to seat a while with cables. Had cable hooked up for over an hour. Still no response from the engine. I figured my jumper cable where not putting out enough voltage, so decided to buy new cables the next morning and try to start it then, the the display screen, radio, did not turn off, and the car keep making the chiming sound when the door is open or the vehicle is running without the key inside. The display screen and the car chimed until the battery drain.
Next day got new jumper cable car. The battery was completely dead but the car started on the first try. Car drove fine the rest on the day and started with no problem. Car not driven for 10 day While on vacation.after returning home Drove it to ran a few errands, made a few stops. The Battery seem fine, the car stared normal. Tried to start it after my last stop,(which was only about 10 minutes) but got not respond from the engine. Tried jump starting again still no response from engine. The engine did not make and sound, this is after have jumper cables connected for an hour and over 14 volts going to the battery. The same as before the display screen, radio, HUD all stayed on after disconnecting the jumper cables.
After a few hour of not finding a tow truck willing to tow it to the dealership, out of fear of damage it. I disconnected the battery and waited about 10 minutes and it jumped started right away. The problem appears to be the car thought it was still in drive, even after Being placed in parked and turned off. Disconnecting the battery reset something (assuming the transmission) into going into park. Have an appointment this week to drop off at dealership hopefully it’s just a software fix and not something major
has anyone else had this issue or any thoughts on the possible problem. Thank in advance for any helpful responses.
My C8 rental was dead after sitting 4 days..
3 times it happened.
Battery was down to 1% on the jump start.
It was in a parking garage with no cell or GPS signal..
Rental company had it sit in their facility (where there WAS cell service) for 5 straight days, and it started right up!
Maybe something with the car searching for a signal wears the battery down?
Still not sure
The radio staying on after you get out of the car is a sign that there is a pending update. Normally when this happens the radio will go off after several minutes. However there have been updates that caused the battery to die but only after authorizing the update installation. This would be the first case of the update causing problems prior to update installation if that is the case that I have seen.

I agree, it’s sending you a notice of a pending update.
