Jesus, don't be so dramatic. Just put your car on a battery tender, put the window down, keep the drivers door cracked, and do the update. If it fails, keep it plugged in and try the update again later. The update is an update to accept chevy DRM so that you can keep getting updates into the future. If you decline it it becomes an opt out for future updates.

I venture to say that the concern/worry about OTA updates “bricking” your C8 is a classic case of the spotlight fallacy, a logical fallacy that occurs when highly publicized data about something (usually negative) is incorrectly assumed to represent a larger problem or something more common than it actually is.

If one or two people post up about a problem with their C8, then it becomes a concern to the majority of members if for no other reason than they don’t want the same thing happening to them.

I don’t mention this to dismiss the problem because it has happened to C8 owners, but I’ve had two updates since taking delivery of my 2022 in March and I didn’t have any problems. I also didn’t have to lower the windows, put it on a tender, or take any other precautions.

YMMV, but I really think worrying about these OTA updates causing issues is needless.

Default Less likely than not......

While war stories are told about OTA's, the vast majority occur without a hitch. Little consolation to those with negative outcomes.

We've done two OTA's since delivery 10-19-21. First in May 2022. The most recent was yesterday 10-10-22. Followed the bouncing ball on the info screen. Both took no more than 5 minutes. Car in the garage with the garage door open, I went inside and a few minutes later went out to do a 'just curious' check on the progress. OTA was installed already. Uneventful for sure.
