But the more serious machinery will also increase in price. That is inflation.

I’m more worried about the price increase! My deposit is down, but mine will most likely be a ‘24. I’m seeing general predictions online that all car makers will have to raise prices by 10% next year to cover inflation…that would put the base price of a 1LT over $70K if those predictions prove true. Add that to the rising interest rates and my concern is that my dream of owning a C8 may not come true…😞

A C8 is affordable at any price. Just take out a bigger loan.

If the base car creeps above $70K then it starts to compete pricewise with more serious machinery.

Nope....not even close! It's a bargain at a base price of $70K. Nothing else gives you even close to the entire total package.

What *new* cars in the 70K range compete with the C8 that don't compete with it at the current price?

Your comment made me think about pay raises in the 1970s then what happened in the early 1980s!

Managed an R&D Lab in the mid 1970s and was giving raises in the 3 to 4% range. Formed a Market Development group in the late 1970’s early 1980s. Had to give big increases to get folks to move to where it was located in CT. Then big inflation occurred. Recall interest rate for home we bought were 17%. We thought we were so lucky to get an assumable at ONLY 14%!

But inflation was also allowing pay increases of 10%. Recall folks were so happy when I gave pay raises because it “sounded so good” compared to the past! But there were not considering bank CDs were paying 12% and inflation was eating most of that 10% pay increase.

So just hope your pay will increase more than the C8 and hopefully if you’re borrowing for the car more than the interest rate you’ll pay!

I think inflation in the 70’s was caused due to other factors unrelated to a local relocation incentive.

For many C8 buyers, poor stock market performance would probably affect their purchase power more than pay increases.

You are saying the C8 isn't serious machinery. Is that because it's a Chevy or is it because it's not built by Germany or Italy?

I think you’ll see interior changes to the layout but nothing major. Throughout corvette model runs, changes occur fairly often during each generation.

Tidbits and rumors on next years car will be showing up here around February. It usually starts with color discontinuation and order date cut offs. Watch the Z06 because it’s more or less a 2024 already at this point. I don’t expect much to change except colors and wheels and some minor added goodie’s. Oh yea and a price hike. The car is just selling to well for GM to invest any money in the car for changes at this point.

Interesting that at a base price of $70K there are no buyers. I wonder if the OP knows people have already been ponying up an additional $10-20K for awhile now just to own one.

As long as there is a backlog I don't see an incentive for GM to invest in making changes to the C8 (other than those mandated by the government). Slight changes maybe, different colors, software upgrades, things that trickle down from other GM models, etc. A wiser move would be to hold off on changes until supply catch up with demand (if that ever happens in the C8 run) and then do refreshes to prop up sales.
