Washing the "good" car is quite a sight in our driveway. A special STEP ONE bucket is designated for the wash mitts and soap; another bucket for only rinsing the mitts (with some kind of grid thing in there to keep the dirt at the bottom and the mitts suspended in cleaner water). There are various microfiber rags marked with a Sharpie for the wheels only; there is one color just for glass, another color for the dash and inside surfaces. God Forbid, these get mixed up, or something is done out of order!
There are special foam attachments for the pressure washer, waiting periods that must be adhered to prior to rinsing, then a fancy blow dryer routine (it's just a leaf blower) to push the beaded water so that it glides off the graphene finish before any dry rag touches her surface.
It used to be a simple thing to help him wash the cars: "You rinse - I'll dry." OMG, I had to be schooled for this C8 procedure. But, Boy, does she sparkle when she's done! And my treat for helping - he will take me on a 20-mile drive to the post office that's only two miles from our house. Fun!!
Is this a common thing in your driveway? Or is it just him being him?
Oh I am with you. One item you missed was having a D/I water system, so no blow drying necessary . I have the Kranzle power washer with foam canon, CR spotless D/I water system, 2 bucket wash rinse system (with flat and angled grit guards), all out on the driveway. Around here, no one knows what to think about foaming the car.......I tell them I'm getting the shaving creme on it, and a VERY large straight razor!

Me too a fan of the D/I (Simple Charlie) system as my water is too hard and causes water spots. For power washer, I found the Karcher more than adequate for my compulsive requirements.
I spray it with the garden hose while using a mitt, blow it off with my leaf blower, wipe anything left off with a microfiber cloth, clean my wheels with a towel and go about my life.
Some of you guys have gone nuts with this stuff, but it's your car so do what makes you happy....
Some owners are really particular about how they detail their cars. Nothing wrong with it.
I used to be until I discovered the local Hispanic owned hand car washes. They are so good supporting them became more important than using my time to do it.
Detailing is enjoyable for some, me included. Nice to have the variety and selection of purpose-built tools and chemicals. Yes, I did fall into the you tube wormhole and have watched many hours of car detailing programing. I find it to be relaxing, but then again, I also enjoy watching lawn Maintenace you tubers as well. Peaceful and relaxing for some reason, most likely affords me time to disconnect from life / political / world issues. Nobody getting shot at in a good reel mowing session! Many products produce excellent results, but which ones smell better?
...not really sure the Yugo (yustay) was really a car...more a sad commentary of a failing political agenda.
Many cars are not really suitable for use in America where distances are often vast and the cars are either high-speed touring cars or city/town runabouts... saw lots of Yugos over the years I lived, worked, and played in Europe.
I'm just a car guy: from my 1st car - '51 Plymouth 4-dr to the '23 C8 and '88 328 Ferrari lurking in the garage -- along with the 18-year-old Pontiac Vibe with only 68,000 miles sitting in the driveway.
