Ok I've owned this HTC car for more than 18 months daily drive and have 10k+ miles on it- Most of the summer the top was down but was driving home with the top up from a meeting in NYC last night and the mirror camera on. Accidentally when adjusting the mirror I hit a button on the mirror I didn't know existed. The camera allows you to change angle, magnification, and luminance with toggle adjustments on teh underside of the mirror. Not that any of these are important but I didnt know the function was even there
Yep. Not only is it in the manual, it's been discussed on the forums, too. There's all sorts of useful info in that book.
Oh, and the adjustments can be very important.
The OP has great timing. I have had my car for a year and just last week looked in the manual to see what those mirror controls did. I adjusted my mirror and it has greatly helped in seeing cars on the passenger side when I am changing lanes etc.
......Not that any of these are important but I didnt know the function was even there
The zoom function is very important IMO! You can set 1:1 like a "real mirror," wide view like the convex passenger door mirror and even wider! Three choices.
Love the very wide view to see all cars behind and on the side lanes next to me!
I believe the nacelles on the HTC limit that really wide view- i saw no great advantages to ay of the settings
With the top down, the rear mirror camera is not functional as the camera is under the rear deck with the top down. With the top up, the mirror camera settings should be very noticeable and the nacelles have nothing to do with what the camera sees.
yup no camera when the top is down hence my illustration of the issue originally. I was looking at the camera and lateral view must be somewhat limited vs coupe. Never seen the coupe camera mirror images so cant say if theyre wider as one poster suggested he gets better lateral views with the wide angle camera setting
The camera is on the the top, well above the nacelles. The coupe view using the camera will be no different than the coupe view of the HTC. The coupe view through the reflective mirror may be different than the HTC. Mine is an HTC, so when I show the reflective mirror view, the nacelles can be seen. The nacelles do not limit the camera view in any way. You can get a very wide view with the camera mirror, if that is what you want.
HERE'S THE MIRROR VIEW - IT IS QUITE LIMITED ISN'T IT? AND YOU CAN SEE THE NACELLES.
HERE'S THE CAMERA VIEW - ON ITS NARROW SETTING - I SEE NO NACELLES, AND THE VIEW IS BETTER THAN THE MIRROR - AT LEAST I THINK SO
HERE IS THE CAMERA ON THE WIDEST VIEW - STILL NO NACELLES

Sometimes it takes a long time to get familiar with all the little features that are available on the car.
After the initial read when new, I like to go through the manual a year later. It is amazing how many useful features stand out that I was not aware of.
