Default Wheel Spacers

New member here. I have a 2023 C8 on order and have a question about wheel spacers. Had them on my Audi RS5 and they radically improve the look of the car. I am thinking I may want to do the same on the rear end only of the C8. What I am finding online is 20mm spacers. Has anyone done this? I am a little concerned about tire rub. Rims and tires are OEM and I have no plans of changing either. Thanks in advance!

I just installed spacers on my 2023 with the OEM base wheels and tires. I did not get 20mm, I went for 25mm, which is admittedly aggressive. Short answer is they look spectacular, I would highly recommend going with either the 20 or 25. The 20 will fit a bit better and look more OEM. The 25 has just a tiny bit too much poke, it gives the car a more aftermarket look. No rubbing with my 25mm, and as far as I have read before, there is no rubbing with the 20mm either. You will probably also want to get the splash guards front and rear to reduce spray on the rockers.

Added some pics for reference. This is stock suspension, stock ride height.

Thank you so much! I'll go with the 20mm. Yup, I'll likely go mud flaps for the back. Thanks again!

20mm gives the car the look GM should have provided from the factory. It does require a little shaving of the studs, 25mm does not. The reason I went with 25mm is that it mimics the look of the Z06 wheel fitment on the Stingray. I wanted to live with that offset before spending the big bucks on new wheels and tires. It’s not completely accurate since it’s still a 19/20 setup instead of 20/21 but the amount of poke is about the same. It also could use about a 1/2” drop but I’m already so close on my driveway I don’t want to mess with it. As it is I don’t really have to be careful.

I think the 20mm spacers and having the car lowered 3/4" all around gives it the stance it was meant to have.

Not a fan of wheel spacers but the 20mm does look just right. 25 is just too much IMO.

I had them on my C7 and enjoyed them. I was warned by a couple of folks that there is more stress on the wheel bearings and was told at one track day they discourage them. I never ran them on the track.

Any concerns around this issue?

I wouldn't think they affect the wheel bearings any more that after market wheels with a little deeper profile. Lots of C8 owners use those.

Hmm, I was all for the 20mm but no shaving of the studs is tempting. Looks pretty darn good with the 25mm. I wonder if anyone was done 25mm rear 20mm front.

Does anyone know if all the Stingray wheels are the same size and offset regardless of which design? From what I see that seems to be the case. I am getting the new forged wheels but haven't seen them with spacers yet.

Your car looks GREAT! Stock Z51 suspension, or something else?

Mine is a Non-Z51, no front lift, with Mag ride, lowered on stock struts. No aftermarket parts used other than the special wrenches needed to lower it.

Does anyone with the 20MM spacers drive their cars hard in the corners to see if they generate rub when you are near the bump stops in a 1`G corner? No rub, just crusing I know isn't a problem, but I have had problems with some aftermarket wheels when others said they had no rub.

I believe all the OEM wheels have the same offset. That is one reason I did not pay extra for the optional forged wheels... they would still need spacers to fit "right", in my opinion obviously. It seems counterproductive to spend $1000 on forged wheels and then add spacers anyway.

And on a related note, when I saw the Z06 in person it seemed to have the same amount of backspacing, in that the wheels do not extend to the edge of the fender line. I think this makes sense, since it is possible to fit the Z06 tire and wheel size on a Stingray, without the flared fenders of the Z06.

I am not sure your idea on the staggered spacers would help, because IIRC the studs on the front are the ones that need shaving. I don't think its hard to do, but I had other reasons for using the 25mm. Its 5mm, its less than 1/4 inch different. Obviously I am biased, but I like the look of the 25mm, and I have gotten a lot of compliments on the look. This surprised me, because my immediate thought was it was too much, but it grew on me quickly. The look with 20mm is very much a factory look, which is fine, but I wanted a more aggressive look. My neighbor has a GT350 and those factory wheels fit more like this, very muscular looking. Same with my friend's tuner Supra, and another neighbor's Camaro ZL1 w/ 1LE. When I get the wheels powder coated I think its going to work perfectly.

What is the side skirt/splitter on there? Any rear diffuser?

I ran staggered spacers on my mustang bullitt. I like it a lot and they were for sure pretty aggressive as well. The 25mm do look good for sure.
