Default Stripes

I need a education on when do they apply the stripes on the cars. Is this done in the paint department, outside of the plant or at the dealer. I was under the impression that the job was done outside the factory. I know the people of the Corvette Forum will have answer. Thank you in advance.

I was told the stripes are applied by an independent installer outside of the factory. I also know they are done quickly and should not delay the delivery of your car. My car was at my dealership 6 days after production and my C8 has full length racing stripes.

As stated, they are applied by a 3rd party, not in the factory. The OEM stripes (unlike aftermarket stripes) are automotive paint/clearcoat applied to a vinyl substrate. This was confirmed by the Corvette Team. Aftermarket stripes are simply vinyl.

I had museum delivery and talked to the gentleman that put my stripes on there. They are definitely a dealer installed item or in the case of a museum delivery they are installed there.

Which stripes?

The following are LPO options (which means they are dealer installed):
SHW LPO, Fender hash stripes, Carbon Flash Metallic with Edge Red accent, Genuine Corvette Accessory
SHQ LPO, Fender hash stripes, Silver with Carbon Flash Metallic accent, Genuine Corvette Accessory
SNG LPO, Fender hash stripes, Edge Red with Carbon Flash Metallic accent, Genuine Corvette Accessory
SB7 LPO, Corvette Racing Themed Graphics Package with Jake and Stingray R logos, Genuine Corvette Accessory
The racing stripes/stinger stripes are NOT LPO options and they are NOT installed by the dealer:
DTH Carbon Flash Metallic Full Length Dual Racing Stripes
DX0 Midnight Gray Full Length Dual Racing Stripes
DSY Edge Orange Full Length Dual Racing Stripes
DSZ Edge Red Full Length Dual Racing Stripes
DUB Sterling Silver Full Length Dual Racing Stripes
DT0 Edge Yellow Full Length Dual Racing Stripes
DZX Carbon Flash/Edge Red Stinger Stripe
DZU Carbon Flash/Edge Yellow Stinger Stripe
DZV Carbon Flash/Midnight Silver Stinger Stripe

That explains it. As shown in my previous post, those are dealer installed.

I THINK the stripes may be applied inside the factory now (I believe they used to be installed on C7s by a third party inside that smaller building in the shipping area adjacent to the plant). The reason I think they may be installed in the plant now is that there was an article this week showing Rick Hendrick’s Z06 (the very first one) rolling off the end of the assembly line and the stripes were already on it.
