I agree....with the uselessness of Onstar. I am glad I got my allocation in before the required 3 year subscription @ $300. I can think of many better ways of spending $300 on my car While they turned it on and I have used the app a couple of times when I was tracking the car, I have never pushed the blue button like they requested. So far, 3 weeks in and have not gotten any calls, emails, or carrier pigeons to sign up long term.
FWIW -- I kept Onstar active through year one of ownership. I never used it. Cancelled the service a few weeks ago. From what I observed, today's Onstar value proposition is primarily the automatic crash annunciation (to emergency services) and assistance to police in the event of theft (track via the built-in GPS).
Same here. Today I got a text from On star to sign up after my month trial. I called them to tell them no, it's not worth it. My fone does all I need..The woman sounded like she had heard this all too often. ( have a key outside for lock-out stoopidity) Tried to sell me a reduced package...nope. Finally she extended my "free" period out to February '23. So you can squeeze a little more service out of them gratis...
So I contacted Onstar to extend my subscription for the additional two free months by giving them a credit card number. The representative said that there would be no charge for the service as long as I canceled before two months was over. Then, before the end of the conversation, my Apple Pay application notifies me that OnStar charged me $16, I asked the attendant, and she said this was not a hold, but a one time fee that they charge for data. So free isn’t really free. No, thank you, cancel everything. Thank you very much.
I was stranded after the OTA update failed the other night and bricked my car. I had just gotten charged for it because I forgot to call and cancel after my trial, so I decided to give them a chance. Absolutely worthless and a total waste of time. When i told the lady that my car wouldnt start, she asked me why did I need to remote start it, didn't I have my key? After failing to make her understand that the car would not do anything, i hung up. Called back a little later to request a tow and the guy was worthless too. I don't understand where they find these people, maybe they were fired from AT&T or Comcast.

Is your car still bricked or did you finally get it running?
Can’t comment on the free trial bit, but I do carry OnStar and here’s why. Years ago, I locked my keys in my C6 (maybe it was my C7). Anyways, had issues with the transponder “seeing” the key fob and it was in my jacket pocket which I accidentally put my the trunk. I was in a bad situation, and would have been stuck for 2-3 hours. I called OnStar, and though my subscription had lapsed, they unlocked the car for me. I offered to sign up but they thanked me and sent me on my way. Just my $.02
We have OnStar on 2 of our vehicles and I do find that it has value... for us. First I will say that unless included in the trial or deeply discounted package, all I pay for is the extended controls (think fob APP) and the included diagnostics etc... We have kids in sports and activities and I like to see that they get to their destination safe. I have also unlocked the car, from out of state at times, for family that had the same issue as Big Lebowski and the fob was not recognized and locked in the trunk (especially happens when fob battery starts to run low, so now when the dash says to change it, I do!). Also helpful for seeing the tires are low as my wife and kids tend to ignore little things like that! A few times I left our car in the drive way and used it like a lock box, leaving stuff in our car for friends and family to pick up later while we were out. Easy to open and close for them. Have had to flash the lights before for family or honk the horn because they went to the mall and forgot where they parked. Even with your phone remembering your parking spot, technology is... technology and we see value in the cost of OnStar for our convenience and peace of mind. YMMV just wanted to share our experience.
Geez rereading what I wrote about our experience I sound like an OnStar commercial! Leaving it as it is on topic.

I finally got it to run, but I dont know what I did to get it running lol. I tried everything and a lucky start button push magically started it, even though a 100 pushes before that did not.
