Default Allocation question.

So about 3 weeks ago I created a custom order with my local dealership for a 2023 corvette. I haven't signed any papers and I haven't even been inside of the dealership as we're still waiting for the allocation. Recently I saw a similar model at another dealership that's ready to go and ready to be purchased. If I end up going through with this similar model that's at a different dealership is it gonna be a problem for me to cancel the current allocation and buying process that I have with my local dealership?

It won't cause any "problems" per say, but it MIGHT sour the relationship with the local dealer IF you already agreed to go through with them. I would buy the one from the other dealer if it were me. Make sure to actually check out the other one before you let the local dealer know, because that other dealership may have some options, markup, or addons that you don't want.

If you haven't given them money, I wouldn't sweat it. It's still a Seller's market, dealer #1 will be fine. Get the car you want.

Your dealer doesn't have a allocation any how and could be months before he gets one. Buy the one you just found before it's gone.

Buy the one available. As noted, you don’t have an allocation all you have is an order. Said dealer could get an allocation in the next cycle or might not get one to match to your order for a year or more.
