Default C8 Service Door Latch System Message

Service door latch message comes on and this issue only effects my drivers side window. The window doesn’t go down for the door to shut. It will go up as the door is closing then you hear and see the glass hit the roof body of the car. The only way I can keep this from happening is to keep the window partially down. I’ve tried disconnecting the battery and re-indexing the windows but no luck. Has anybody else had this message in similar problem? I’ve searched a couple threads and there has been a couple people had similar issues. I’ve reached out to those people to just clarify what resolved it. Waiting to hear back. Any help would be appreciated before I make an appointment at the dealer. Thanks Brent

On most cars, once you are inside the car, w door closed, roll up the window and keep the switch up for few seconds, to reset.

From the Owners Manual:

1. Close all doors.
2. Turn the ignition on or to ACC/
ACCESSORY.
3. Partially open the window to be
programmed. Then close it and
continue to pull the switch
briefly after the window has
fully closed.
4. Open the window and continue
to press the switch briefly after
the window has fully opened.

^ If not the above. Disconnect battery for a few then try the above again as the DIC will guide you. Then if not, there’s an issue.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I’ve also done the disconnect the battery procedure and followed the owners manual. I’ve actually Disconnected my battery on a couple different occasions and had to re-index the windows, it was pretty simple procedure, but I’ve never received a message on my dash that said “service door latch system”. Looks like I will make an appointment Monday to get it into the dealer.

Good luck with the repair. Hope the dealer can quickly pinpoint where the problem lies and the repair is simple.

UPDATE: Took the car to the dealer and they ordered part number 84915056 door latch driver side. It was replaced and unfortunately it did not fix the problem. I took the car home as there is a big storm coming into Indiana and just rather had it here since I’m only 6 miles from the dealer. It’ll go back next Tuesday to see if they can figure it out. The message I’ve been getting on the dash is “Service Door Latch System”.

FIXED! I just wanted to give an update on this thread in case someone has a similar problem, which I know one person does have. As it turns out one of the wires in the door jam was pinched it looks like it was that way from the factory. After a year and a half of opening and closing the door I guess it became more compromised and started the problem with the window. The dealer replaced the entire driver side door harness part number 84716056. It works fine now with no problems. Originally the dealer thought it was the door latch mechanism. I was very happy overall with the way Champion Chevrolet in Avon Indiana took care of the problem and kept working at it to get it resolved quickly.
