Default Wait time for new C8

I live in the Midwest close to Chicago. I plan on ordering a new C8. Does anybody know what the wait time is for the ordering of a C8 in my area?

Depends on which dealer, how many allocations they receive, and how many are ahead of you.

If you ordered from one of the big dealers (Ciocca, MacMulkin, etc) I'd say < 10 months. How much less depends on your spec and how constraints affect those in front of you. I went from #328 to allocation because the 327 in front of me apparently did not want Z51 on their cars.

You might also get lucky with a small dealer that gets a random allocation, with no one to fill it.

Happy hunting!

That depends. Are you set on paying MSRP or you are ok with paying a few thousand above MSRP. Also the options that are on constraint if any. The dealer itself and the allocations. So alot of different factors. You could get it in 2 1/2 months like I did or you could be waiting 6months to a year or more. I'd probably plan for a year and if it comes sooner then you can be a happy buyer.

Waiting list for the big three (MacMulkin, Ciocca, Criswell) will run 10>14 months from deposit to delivery. The advantage of ordering from these (3) dealers is that you know you WILL GET a C8 and you know in advance you will pay MSRP or possibly less if you are in a price increase protection situation. Criswell does have a $500 doc fee.

You could very well find a smaller dealer that will sell you at MSRP in less time if you are willing to do quite a bit of research. Problem is this forum is littered with posts were C8s were ordered from small town dealers only to find the agreed upon deal was changed drastically when the C8 arrives. And guess what? the change is typically in the dealer's favor.

If you go with a small town dealer, I recommend you also get one the waiting list of one of the big three as insurance. They all have refundable deposits. Good luck!

Picked mine up from Criswell in Sept. Just under 14 months from deposit to delivery. Mike told me it would be 12-14 months for delivery when I sent my deposit in.

Are you going for msrp or are you willing to pay over? I’m on one local dealers is in Joliet Hawk auto at msrp. You’re looking at at least 12 months at msrp. Most dealers around Illinois are not msrp when I was looking to get on a list.

More options to attaining a C8 are becoming available. Looking in the used car marketplace is getting better and cars are going for sale and selling closer to MSRP, so choices between waiting a year or paying significantly more to get the car now aren't the only options.

Look at the C8 results on BAT last 6 months, where solds tend to be higher than in the used market (big egos), even the unsolds (empty circles) and where they bid at expiration, and you can see a higher concentration of cars both available and selling in the range of $80/$100K. And these are all mixed - 1,2,3LTs and different options. But the big picture is looking better for buyers:

I placed deposit with Les Stanford on 6/15/20 and took delivery of my 22 HTC on 10/19/21. I placed a deposit on a 23 with Matick Chevrolet on 3/25/22 and got a "video" from my salesperson yesterday telling me the car will be built the first week of January 23. That was only 9 months. I also received an acknowledgement from Chevrolet. Both deals were at MSRP.

I don't agree with your interpretation of the data. With that being a mix of all C8s, I would expect to see the bulk of sales between 60 and 80, not 80 and 100, before I would call this "cooling." Even then, that would be paying MSRP range for a used vehicle - these still show above MSRP price averages.

I was at a dealer today. They only got 17k market adj on their last new C8 sale. That's better then 30k a year ago, but still sucks for the buyer, IMO.

It really doesn't matter even if they are the largest Chevrolet dealer in the country. What matters is how many Corvette allocations they get. You need to ask them two questions:

1) How many Corvette allocations do they get per year?
2) Where would I be on the waiting list?

Then calculate how long your wait might be. For example, if they only get 50 allocations per year, and you are number 100 on their waiting list, you could be waiting for up to two years for your Corvette.

It would be wise to do what others have done if you are serious about getting a C8. That is, go ahead and put a deposit down at your local dealer. But at the same time, put a deposit (refundable BTW) down at one of the top two dealers in the US which is MacMulkin or Ciocca as well. They sell at MSRP and your wait time will be roughly a year with no funny stuff being played. There have been plenty of horror stories of local dealers charging a large ADM fee once the car comes in.

What dealer are you talking about? I’m from Illinois also. We don’t have a dealer that gets a large number of corvette allocations.

Make sure, in writing, that you are buying at MSRP before placing a deposit anywhere. Many here have been screwed by dishonest dealers who made promises then reneged once the cars arrived and asked for $5,000-$15,000 over.

macMulkin and several others will assure MSRP in writing.

BTW, for me it was 363 days from deposit to receipt of car at MSRP through MacMulkin.

Exactly what happened to me. Small dealer nearby got allocations with no one else on the list. Luck plays a part sometimes.
