Getting my 2023 z51 convertible and thinking of ordering the high wing spoiler from gm store to put on myself later so I can keep the z51 spoiler. Any pros and cons?
That’s what I did on both of my cars. As long as you don’t mind doing the swap go for it. If you going to pay for the install I would just order it as an option,
Did you do install yourself and hard was it? Did you use a certain video on how to?
Yes, I did them myself. Not that hard if you are comfortable wrenching on cars but you do have to disassemble/remove the rear bumper cover. Google “C8 high wing install “ and a few videos should pop up.
If you get the High Wing installed at the dealer, will they not just box up the Z51 spoiler and send it on with the car? I’m getting close to ordering with Ciocca, Thoughts?
Go to YouTube and search “c8 rear bumper removal” you’ll see tons of videos. Watch them all because each will teach you different techniques. You can do it yourself.
No. They never put it on, they keep it. That is why I am thinking of just getting the one they put on and then either having a dealer install or install the high wing myself.

That’s how it use to be, now if you order the high wing LPO option they deliver the car pre-drilled for the spoiler without the actual Z51 spoiler.
If you order it from the parts counter or online you have to pay for installation but you’ll have the Z51 spoiler. If you’re lucky you can sell it and recoup the installation cost or it will sit in a box on the shelf like mine. In my mind it’s not worth it unless you think you will swap them back out at some time in the future (possibly resale).
FWIW, my high wing was constrained in the last two weeks before it was built. My plan was to order from C7 Carbon as had already ordered a preproduction 5VM since it was contained months before.
Researched How To and found one video that made it clear how to remove the bumper with tools, sequence to use etc. Far better than simple ones available. Made a draft PDF initially for myself then planned to finish similar to my other 40+ How To PDFs. I use pics with long detailed captions. In this case pics are from that excellent video.
There were very few early Long Beach Red C8 Pics on the forum. This pic has a black Z51 wing AND body-colored mirrors. May have been a prototype. I thought wing color was based on the specific body color NOT if you ordered black mirrors (still think that is silly.) So when the high wing was constrained, I thought I was getting a black Z51 wing (which because it was close to the already worst view of the C8, the rear, I thought would not look good.)
My car arrived late in the day at the Courtesy Delivery dealer 30 miles from home. The Service Manager called to see if I wanted to see them remove the GM white cover. I said sure but can't get there until after ~5:15. He said no problem I'll be here. He and the Owner's Son removed the cover while I took pics. Thought I'd see that black wing!
Surprised when I saw it was Long Beach Red, body color. Both wife and I like it so no high wing!

thanks, yeah, I don’t see any need for a spoiler I didn’t want in the first place, I already got a big block domed hood hanging on my wall because I had to go L88, lol…
