The acid rain threat has greatly diminished with the decline of coal-fired power plants and requirements that they scrub their emissions, substantially cleaner ICE vehicles, etc. Major US urban areas were often shrouded in a brown, ugly haze 20-30 years ago, and you just don't see that anymore.

I bought my first Vette in Jan1998 new. Torch Red always garage parked unless on a trip. only about 50K miles on it but when I drive it, often I have people compliment the car and ask if it is new. What does that say about how well the paint holds up?

I seriously doubt the formulae vary much given increasingly strict environmental regulations in the industrialized world.
Axalta Coatings (formerly DuPont) is the exclusive paint supplier for the C8. Here's their background:
Axalta traces its origins to the German firm Herberts Gmbh, which began in 1866 coating carriages before moving to automotive painting. Through later mergers the company became DuPont Performance Coatings (DPC), part of the American DuPont chemical empire, and was rebranded as Axalta Coating Systems after being purchased by The Carlyle Group in 2013. Axalta went public on the New York Stock Exchange in November 2014 and since then has become fully independent. Carlyle Group exited their last ownership stake in Axalta in 2015.
