I suspect the design is very good on paper, but very sensitive to contamination as you pointed out. Executing a build on something like this tranny in less than clean room conditions seems to elude GM, that’s why I am going to follow the protocol I posted earlier.
What should be irksome is Tadge & Co. claiming this Corvette was the most tested Corvette ever, what some million miles or so & they didn't experience these issues with the DCT. Yet as soon as it gets it customers' hands the issues present themselves.

im guessing they simply got their math wrong and also supply chain issues didn’t exist back then. GM might have thought fewer failures, and with that a ‘break in’ fluid change was not needed or was too expensive to include. As it stands, they figured out that contamination was an issue, so I’m sure they cleaned that up, but the tranny needs even cleaner assembly or initial clutch disc wear was too much. They know the answer, they aren’t stupid, but they won’t tell us, either way, I’m changing the filter asap, then again with a fluid flush and track fill. GM operates by counting pennies, luckily I don’t, I just want my stuff to work.

I used to work in development. The first articles off the line are often the best. The development engineers are closely tuned to what is going on in manufacturing and supply chain. Once initial production starts many of the engineers go off to other projects, schedule pressures become more relevant, technicians switch to other jobs, etc.
