I wonder if an extended warranty will cover this issue ? I am going to meet my salesperson tomorrow and I'll ask about that.

That's a good question, and one that's been asked many times before. I knew it was a risk, I really like the 3LT interior, and I felt like it was not that big of a deal in the long run. Factory warranty covers it, the worst thing is waiting for parts. I don't know if the extended warranties will cover that kind of thing or not, I assume not, those warranties do not usually cover appearance items. I will get replacement factory dash components as long as they are warrantied. If the problem happens again outside of warranty, it's a pretty easy and inexpensive job to have them recovered aftermarket. I guess you could always "downgrade" to the 1/2LT dash parts too, but since I have the Tension/Twilight Blue interior, it would not match well.

mnm4ever,
With your input I have made my final decision and I will stick with the 3LT interior, all leather. I spoke with my sales rep at the dealership about the dashboard being covered under an extended warranty and he said it would be. Now it's time to place my order ! Enjoy your C8 !!

Thanks,

Mike

Congrats! Glad you were able to make a decision and that I could help. I don't think you will regret it, I know I love mine and the 3LT is really a nice little upgrade. Let us know what colors and options you went with!

mnm4ever,
My color scheme breaks down like this; body style is coupe and colors are body, Caffeine, with a full red racing stripe down the middle, red engine cover under the rear window and interior is still up in the air. I'm toying with red seats with black seatbelts and black interior, the opposite black seats with red seat belts and red interior or the dipped natural Napa seats and natural seatbelts with a black interior. I want the black exhaust tips and a carbon flash high wing spoiler. I will go with the dark wheels with the red stripe on the outside of the rim. The car looks pretty good to me on the GM builder web site. I will post pictures after I have the car.

Well that's certainly going to be unique! Have you seen Caffeine in person? It goes very well with the natural dipped, but I am not sure I can envision it with red accents or interior. It's a very rich tone of brown, in bright sunlight there is a hint of bronze and orange in it, and in the shade its almost a burgundy look. I could maybe envision it with all black interior and trim too, although I have only ever seen caffeine paired with natural. Just not sure I can see where red accents would work with it, seems like it would clash. But it's your car and your vision, so that is what matters most.
