May I presume that the idea behind taking the 2nd key is so that if you loose one you have the other?.. If this is so, then having the 2nd one IN the car would mean if you loose the 1st, you can't get into the car anyway. If you think you need to take the 2nd along, perhaps the best place would be in you luggage. (tho I agree with the above poster, in your pocket is good too). .. In your luggage it goes out when you stop at night, and is in the car as you would seem to otherwise prefer.
I personally wouldn't leave it anywhere in the car. A C8 was stolen in Florida because the owners had the car wash / detail guy leave the fob inside the car.
thanks, solo trip, issue, if 1st fob fails, have backup in my pocket, not C8
Carry an extra battery then for the the fob. .... That way you can at least get into a the car if you're locked out... Oh wait, you still have the physical key to get in... When/if the battery goes dead, put the key in the rear cup holder. The car will "see" it and you can drive the car. .. ... An extra battery in the glove box or console isn't a bad idea anyway. (CR2450)
Ergo you don't need to carry a 2nd key. .... I've never heard of one of these electronic fobs simply failing altogether. .. Any brand.
Seriously has anyone ever needed a second key? Id personally be more concerned over puncturing a tire along the way and needing a replacement after the 50 miles of run flat is used up. Noone will have that tire in stock and youll be stuck a couple days until the tire rack delivers it to your location. If your worrying about things -far greater chance of that happening than needing 2 keys
On long road trips I keep the small plastic ID tag that came with my fobs in my personal hygiene/care bag , I was told at delivery that any GM dealer can put together a fob from that , also have my wife carry the second fob in her purse with the battery out .( she never leaves her purse in the car )
could also take a photo of that tag and the information and it will be permanently in your cloud- Perhaps though you might need to carry two phones just in case.....

The 50 miles at 50 mph is a guideline. I can tell you from experience you don't want to drive 50 mph on the interstate. I managed 60 mph for about 90 miles with no issue.
My daughter drove from Lexington Ky to southern middle TN on a flat, run flat tire averaging about 80 mph while on the interstate. Not recommended but it has been done. We had a long talk about tires and maintaining your car after that. Scared me to death after we realized what she had done.

I agree. Leave the 2nd fob at home and if necessary it can be over-nighted to you.
