Default E-Brake Problems

I recently started having squeaking problems when I start up my 2021 Z51 and release the e-brake. I get some squeaking from rear brake while backing out of driveway, and then if I tap brakes 3-5 times going forward, the squeaking goes away. It does it whether I set e-brake or just leave in park. I changed stock rotors and horrible stock pads for performance slotted and drilled rotors ,and low dust pads about 9 months ago - and everything was fine until just a few weeks ago. Anybody have similar problems??

My brakes squeal when I pull out of my garage. I always back into my garage but when I leave and go to the nearest stop sign they don't make a sound. Interesting is my 20144 C7 did the same thing. It's a bit embarrassing to pull out in a nice Corvette and it sounds like a 1983 Buick!

It's not the e-brake and is likely being caused by your brake pads in the colder temps. My first step would be to relubricate the aftermarket pads/shims/pins, basically anything with metal-on-metal contact including the sides & tops of the pads, both sides of the shims, and the pins and spring clips holding everything into place. The rears are super easy to do; all this will take you max 15 minutes per side. You can get small packets of synthetic brake grease from any of the major auto parts stores about about a dollar each (1 per rear corner, 2 per front corner).

I well-lubed my aftermarket pads during install and have had no issues driving in temps down into the 20's so far this winter.

My non-Z51 convertible spends part of the year in Florida and part in Ohio. In Ohio, I keep it in my garage and back out to drive it. In Florida, it’s kept in a public garage in which a normally back into a spot and pull forward to leave. The brakes squeal in Florida the first few times I apply them. In Ohio, they’re quiet as a church mouse.

My car is approximately 300 yards from the Atlantic Ocean in Florida so I thought the squealing might have something to do with the salt air. Now I’m thinking it may be backing out versus moving forward as a contributing factor. I’ll have to try backing out of the Florida garage to see if the brakes still squeal.

I know kracas post above is perfectly clear to MOST of us BUT, I must point out he was NOT telling us to lube the ACTUAL PAD SURFACES, just the metal to metal surfaces & VERY lightly 🍻
PS: I say lightly because too much “lube” when heated by even normal braking can migrate to places you don’t want it to,
