Most interesting at 2:30 was the battery corrosion on the tray the battery is sitting on.
Was the battery overfilled, or got too hot and overflowed. That looks bad
Is this normal. Anyone have a cure for this? It looks like it could get worse.
^^^^
Really not sure what that corrosion was from. Maybe he lives in NE OH where I did for ~6 years and drives in the winter. Looks like it could be caused by road salt!
BUT excellent video showing what must be 100 different control modules, what they do and their location! Considering all the chips that must be involved and many from China, no wonder there are production delays due to component supply! Frustrating as chip manufacture is very automated, not a low labor cost reason they are all being made overseas.
That looks like a car that sat unused for several weeks/months in a cold climate. A lead/acid battery that has been left to discharge in temperatures below freezing for a long period will freeze. When this happens the electrolyte will expand and typically will open a crack in the battery case. When warmer weather returns the electrolyte thaws and runs out of the battery case. That leaked acid could have sat there for some time before someone opened up the access panel. This is all too common on boats in the northeast stored outside without a battery tender.
Just needs to be washed down with a base solution of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and water to neutralize the acid, cleaned up and repainted.
Not to change the subject but.....
Since we are talking about that video....
He mentions a column lock module.
I asked if he meant a steering column lock as mine does not lock.
He said "The column lock module actually I didn't actually show because it is on top of the column towards the front of the car you would actually have to drop the steering column in order to see it. And yes this is the module that would lock the steering column. Try shaking the wheel after the car is off to get it to lock."

Do any of your columns lock?
I've never noticed my steering wheel locked. And I don't think a colum lock is required if you have other anti-theft features (like a transmission that can't be taken out of park without a key).
Cure that issue with a AGM battery, nothing to leak on a AGM.
I had never heard of AGM. Read your post and looked it up. Sounds like a better battery.
Looking at that video, I would say there is a problem with that battery. I have had some corrosion on cars over the last 40 years, but nothing like that on a two year old car.

Nope, mine doesn't. The federal reg requires either a column lock or transmission lock. I think the transmission controls on the C8 meet that reg, because without a key the switches don't do anything.
I commented this on his video, and he says it locks if "the car thinks it's being stolen." I guess that means if the alarm is triggered? Which I think means the 1LT doesn't have it.

Buy US made Absorbed Glass Mat batteries made by East Penn at NAPA. I run them in all my cars, bikes, and jet skis.
