I'm still not understanding how this piece broke with zero damage to something else....how did the trunk lid not have damage if it was part of the issue? From that picture we are talking inches of gap to cause an issue and I really don't see how this could have happened....maybe I'm blind or it's the angle. Bummer it happened, but yeah, that will learn ya

[QUOTE=Chemdawg99;1606300734]And this is why I bought the fitted luggage for the C8

I bought two Dockers 20" spinners for $49.99 each. They fit perfectly and match the interior of the trunk. And there is still room left over in front and back for jackets and other crunchables

Good find and you don’t necessarily have to have the fitted luggage, you have to do what works. I got the considerably more expensive fitted luggage because I had points and I didn’t want to have to think about what size luggage put in the car through trial and error.

This just in to our news room! The airport has been shut down due to unattended baggage. Witnesses said a disgruntled corvette driver was yelling about needing his space. Police were called… and now the bomb squad is enroute to the location.

I'm having a hard time visualizing how this happened, too. But obviously it did. If there's no visible external damage, I'd try bonding it back together first. That location isn't really under a lot of stress. There are glues specific to certain types of plastic, but I don't know what kind of plastic that is, so that's not much help.

Good luck.

To the OP: good luck with the repair and it looks like it might be better to let your insurance handle this.
Robert. If I had your money I would have bought two sets. 😂😂

I will continue to use my Walmart soft side duffels until I can get accurate measurements on the fitted luggage. My interior guy can make me a set. But it won’t have the embossed flags on it.

Can you provide a link or model #? These seem to work well.

Not really stated but I am assuming he had hard sided baggage. Soft sided baggage is the way to go.

I have the 70th anniversary edition and I’ve never taken the included bags out of their wrapping because I figured I’d never use them and I’ll just use my regular luggage. I’ll be getting them out of the closet for the next road trip. Better safe than sorry. Thanks for the info.

Is that so the Airlines can do to your luggage what luggage can to to a C8?
This is why I use my Acadia for DD and leave the C8 for just fun stuff - sorry because I can.

I would never check these bags. Besides, I don't drive my C8 to the airport. I got the fitted luggage for road trips, not flights.

I was going to say something similar for that scenario, but I was just talking about airport trips and grocery shopping. I did try once to see if "regular" hard luggage would fit and that is a definite NO.

I like bags that roll, plus hard sided even if not flying. I wouldn’t leave my corvette at the airport, but roller bags would be nice for a road trip. I can’t find the Dockers bags as shown by Mr. Paris. Seems these would prevent what the OP is warning.

That was my point. Road trips only. Who parks their C8 in long term airport parking anyway. 😵‍💫

Apparently, a person will fit in the frunk and the trunk, otherwise why would they have the emergency escape release? The problem could have been avoided. The suitcase could have been put in the passenger seat. I just saying

If you have an HTC, watch what happens at the gap between the trunk lid and tonneau cover. As the tonneau lifts, is moves up but also back, in arc, ending up over top of the trunk lid. It gets very very close to the trunk lid. if the trunk lid is slightly raised, it will collide.

It looks that way, but then why in the original picture is there zero damage to the trunk lid? If it totally broke that cover, I can't believe the OP was so lucky to sustain zero damage to the trunk lid? Obviously something happened, but it almost looks like something was in the engine compartment and that is what it got caught up on.
