I will be using a CD for my delivery. One recommended by MM. The dealer sheet they send to the CD says for them to not drive the car….no test drive. I agree with that request, but understand the CD fills the tank with gas before delivery.
I am going to request they don’t fill it up to prevent anyone from driving it off the lot.
Are any of you new owners also paranoid about engine and transmission thrashers at the dealers who don’t give a crap about going easy on new cars? Especially a young detailer that has been told to take it the the corner gas station to fill it up after they give it a wash.
I can see that going only one way…..take the new Vette to have some fun to and from the gas station.

o wow, so you don’t want the dealer to check The car and fill up your car because you don’t want them to drive it to the gas station, I hope you can and know how to do all your maintenance and repairs. It’s a car, I think that is a little too much in my opinion

If that's what you want I'm sure the delivering dealership will happily oblige since it'll save them both time & money. Many CDs don't include gas anyway and only do the bare minimum.

100% 1. it's a car, not a newborn baby. 2. The car is 4 model years old, the dealership personnel have seen a lot of them, they're not wowed by them anymore enough to go ripping down the street to the gas station, nor do they want to lose their jobs over a 5 min joy ride.
If anything, you being an annoying customer will entice them to do something they wouldn't normally do, aka spit in your food.

I’m with the consensus. Let them test drive and fill up. The cars are not that delicate and I wouldn’t want to show up and see a CEL or similar, because the dealer didn’t test.
My car was delivered to me via Intercity lines from McMulkin. It arrived with a full tank of gas, approximately 5 miles on the odometer and in pristine condition. Everyone at McMulkin assured me the car would be thoroughly inspected during and after the pre delivery inspection. After taking delivery my son-in-law and I went over just about every inch of the car and found no issues with the paint and no body panel or headlight fitment issues. Adam from MacMulkin who was my sales person, sent me pictures and even a video as it was being loaded onto the transporter. He let me know they found no issues during and after PDR. If there were any issues, I am certain he would have let me know.
I agree with the others it is a car while I can understand your concerns, being you are purchasing from MacMulkin, I would say you have nothing to worry about.

But if you do not want them to put gas in your car, see if they will agree to go with you to the station once you take delivery.
You do know that the same thing can happen at service appointments - what will you do then?
I agree it's a little paranoid to worry about all that. My dealer by default doesn't take the car to fill up, they have an account with a station across the street and they just give me a card to give the cashier to charge their account. But I wouldn't have any issue if they put a miles or two on it to get it filled up before I got there. I had a trans code that needed a solenoid, they test drove it after that was fixed. It's part of troubleshooting/fixing. You either trust your dealer or you don't. If you don't, find another one.

"Paranoia Will Destroy Ya"
You need to properly "vet" your CD even if they are approved by MM which really doesn't mean much...This might help reduce / eliminate any fears you might have...
I thoroughly vetted my CD before having them approved by MM...My CD would never have a detailer drive the C8 to get it filled up...They have a dedicated C8 Vette Tech that performs the PDI and then takes the C8 out for a very short test drive to ensure that everything to running properly...During this test drive they also filled my tank...
And you also have the option of tracking everything from milege traveled and speed / acceleration using ONSTAR as I did...
By then it will have its break in done. No problem after that. My concern is to make sure the start of break in is done correctly.
I want to prevent any issues if I can. I know, I know , crystal ball and that crap.
Have you seen the story of the Nissan Z owner going to pick up his new car and the lot attendant totaled it bringing it up from the prep area so the customer could take it home?

Have you taken the time to contact your CD and speak with your service manager / director as to who will be doing the PDI? Will it be done by a certified Covette Tech? If not, you need to do this! If it isn't going to be performed by a certified corvette tech then find another CD....This might help with your fears...
Mine was done by a certified Corvette Tech who understands the break-in procedure.. And nobody but him was allowed to touch my C8!
I just picked up my C8 from CD this week. Purchased from MM. Ahead of time I spoke with the salesguy who handles CD and asked about putting gas in. He volunteered to wait for me to pickup the car and then we could go put gas in. He must have done that for others. So car had PDI, had 4 miles and was ready for gas. So I got to drive, ask any questions, and have CD pay for the gas. That might be an option for you.

How many threads are you going to start about nonsense? My thought is you’re very paranoid. You’re not buying a Ferrari.

My C8 is my 7th Vette bought new.... never a problem. A thought to ponder: Is your car going to own you, or are you going to own it? At the end of the day - they are ALL - yes, even a millions-of-dollars - car is just that -a car.
