I have been loved the c8 corvette the first time when it came out, and keep watching its youtube videos for a long time but never took the action because of the long waiting time, now seems the market is better and I can't stop thinking about it again!
My situation: mid-30 age, 150-200k before tax, no kids but plan to have soon, never owned a real sports car. In general, I can afford it but still a lot that I can't take it like a toy.
My wife doesn't suggest me get it as I just bought a $45k sports sedan last year (regret my decision not to select V6 engine)
TBH I am never a car enthusiast and don't really know how much I like corvette indeed. The only reason is I like its look and want to own a V8 engine.
Experts please help me and share some experience! I know I should follow my heart but reality doesn't allow me to make impulsive decisions.
Yes…. Get it. Soon all the numbskulls will be forcing you to get an electric car. Get it, you make good money, but if you got a crapload of debt, don’t.
A sport sedan? You need to ‘reframe’ that as ‘a boring family car’. It’ll be fine.
All of us have 1 life to live. Will you regret not having this car when your time is up or will you regret spending the money to fulfill a dream and having this experience? Kids are a bigger blessing than any material possession, so don't do anything that will alter your plans to have kids. But if you can do both and money is not the problem, then buy the car! As for the wife's suggestion....well....forgiveness over permission! I'm sure she will love the car too!
Since you live in Dallas, I would definitely go for it. 150-200k is not a lot in NYC or in the Bay Area, but in Texas you have the perfect combination of low cost-of-living, and year round good weather (for sports car driving).
As a data point I am similar to you in age and making similar money to you, maybe a bit more. But our living is much more expensive here.
Not even close to enough info to provide meaningful advice. How much debt you already carrying? How much you going to have to borrow to buy the car? Do you really want a Vette as a daily driver with kids on the way? Most importantly how many fights with the wife if she is saying no? I'm not asking you to answer these questions here but just things to think about.
It's real easy for other people to spend your money for you or in some cases money you don't have yet. With kids on the way I would have far more important priorities personally but I also have no idea what your situation is. Maybe you are in a position to double your salary in the next couple years, maybe you stand to inherit millions and a C8 is peanuts. Maybe you would prefer your wife divorce you over the car and live the single life..... No matter, just make the decision that seems to make the most sense to you.
Bought my first Corvette when I was in my 30's. Now I own my third and no regrets buying any of them. The experiences you'll have will be worth every penny.

lol, you got the point, I maybe not know if I want a corvette, but I do know I don't need a 4-door sedan

Do you already get the car? You are right I can afford it in cash meanwhile it also drains my savings, so just needs a little more motivation
OK this is the wrong place to ask any should I buy it questions as there is nothing but enablers here, Its like one drunk asking another , Should I have another drink? **** YEA you should.

My TPW is in a few weeks so I wlll probably get the car in about a month. Im also paying it in cash, since the outlook for market or realestate investments are pretty bad now.
This one will be number 8, I could’ve swore I said I was going to keep all of them and it was my last car. And that includes 2-ZR1’S I sold, still want to bash my brains in for selling those, but the other 5 I was fine with.
...

Your wife is the voice of reason plus you are not a car enthusiast and don't know if you like corvette. That is three strikes you are out and should not buy this car.
Purchased my first Corvette at 17, my 42nd 5 months ago, never regretted purchasing any of them. IF you buy it and, even though unlikely, decide it's not for you, then just sell it as you shouldn't lose very much as long as you take care of it.

Well put. We are in no position to tell you what you should do since we do not have to live your life. The C8 is an amazing car, but there are other priorities to consider here.
Agree with some others here. None of us here can answer your question - we all have different priorities, different financial situations, and are at different stages of our lives. Go make a pros and cons list, with your wife, together. I would wager the answer will become fairly clear when you see it listed on paper.
