I have scheduled my first ever 1/4 mile run at Bandimere Speedway for April 26th. Track and tune night.
I am sure I will be nervous so I need to have my stuff together.
2022 Stingray, non Z51.
I have done launch control before but....
When I put it in track mode, press the traction control twice to get ESC mode.....
Will it stay in that mode until I launch? If I put it in ESC mode before staging in the waiting line? I would hate to think I have it ready but it's not.
Also, can I do that before a burnout? If I have it in ESC mode and then do a paddle drop burnout will it go back to normal mode?
Any advice on doing a burnout? Kinda scary to floor it and let it drop.
Any other helpful advice?
Thanks, here goes.......
The car will stay in ESC mode as long as you leave it there, pre burnout thru making the pass.
I used to do a redline paddle drop but that isn't necessary, I now rev to 3k and release the paddles...when the clutches engage then you floor it to a rolling burnout. Good luck
If you have mag ride, you should consider launching in Sport Mode vs Track. With Mag Ride in Track mode, the car will squat less thus a little less traction.

No mag ride but I can appreciate how it would hinder traction. Thanks for the feedback.

Perfect. Pretty much answered all my questions at once.
Thanks!
So I assume it will stay in ESC mode until it sees the brake pedal and accelerator pedal both hit the floor?

To clarify, I meant "ESC off" will remain until you change it manually.
If you do not have Mag ride, you need to get in Competition mode to get launch mode. You went through proper procedure in your description, but do not think it is in proper mode if it says ESC off. It needs to say competition mode in your dash after you put in track mode and press traction control button twice. It will stay in that mode until you change mode, or press traction control button again, or shut off and restart.
Best way to confirm is put in competition mode, firmly press the brake pedal and floor it hard. If the tach goes to 3500 and flutters there, you're in launch mode. You can release throttle and wait until you get to line, do your double paddle burn out, and then just hold left foot on brake, floor it to 3500 and release brake and it will launch as good as it can. If it does not go to 3500rpm, you are not pressing brake hard enough, not flooring it fast enough, not have the steering wheel straight, or not in the right mode. Also - you only have about 5 seconds of holding it at 3500 before it will automatically cancel launch mode.
Hope this helps.....
But also if you have mag ride and non Z51 you still will need to put it in Competition mode. Only Mag Ride plus the Z51 you will have the other options for launch.
But as others have described and what you are doing is correct. From my experience yes it stays in that mode in sport not sure in track but would not see it being any different. I would like to see you try it in both Sport and launch control and then some runs with it in Track.

The logic to allow more rear squat may be built into Launch Mode on cars with MSRC. I had a DSC controller on my C7 and it specifically had an option to allow more rear squat for a certain distance/sped/time (I don't remember which).
Is this your 1st time on a track or the 1st in the C8
My advice would be to Run in Comp Mode and drive off idle a couple of time before trying Launch.
2nd if you have not practiced, ahead of time, with Launch Control it will be tough at the track getting ahead of the curve.
First for both. I have done about a half dozen launches and feel comfortable with them.
I agree and will do first run without launch. It will also allow me to compare after the fact.
Thanks for your input.
