This is dangerous. You are slowing to a crawl 100 feet or more before a red light or stop?

You are creating a hazard on the road, not avoiding one.

Gald you haven't had an accident as well. Your flip phone reminds me of my old Boss. He was 10 years older than me and died 10 years ago! Would make him 100 if he lived.

Could not get him off that old flip phone! The only one he every called was his girlfriend and me! He was our CEO, great guy until the end when he could not remember much but how to push the button to call me when he needed something! Could not operate my current Internet business, keep my website up to date without two computers and iPad and iPhone. But don't need any distraction when I'm driving! That can wait until I'm not in the Vette!

Perhaps for the distracted folks behind me! If they would stay off the phone, hands free, as well they would be safer.

Frankly I'm remined of what our German Company Commerical Managing Director told be when we were driving on the Autobahn. He drove one way, foot to the floor. Always remined me when me hit 250 km/h (155 mph!) I was on that Board and his compensation package included a new Mercedes with what he said was a "special ordered engine." Usually, as large V8 the dealer could order for his mid-size car. Also recall we had to buy him high speed rated winter tires (all non-taxable!)

Recall one day there was a car pulling out from the right lane to pass a truck. He had to apply full brakes. I asked him why folks do that and he responded, "they don't last long!" So guess some prefer we just use the Darwin approach. Same with drugs! I'll let someone else do them in!

You assume everyone is always on the phone other than you. If you are crawling down the road 100 feet from a red light, you are creating a hazard. Whether or not the other drivers are on their phones. End of story.

I do look in my wide view TV mirror. I slow to a crawl when folks are coming up from further behind. When they are right behind me and don't have a cell phone on their steering wheel I proceed. Frankly the C8 is my 1st DD that is not a standard shift since the hot rod I built in 1958 when I was 16. Was common to do that with my other cars and 5 Vettes as I slowed to a stop. I'm not creating any hazard. Might have folks looking at or trying to look at their phone pissed off- so beit!

SIDEBAR
I live ~25 miles from Town can can take I95. One reason I don't is the often heavy traffic going to Florida . Also 18 wheelers hauling containers and rushing to the port in Charleston SC. I was in the middle lane (in wife's SUV) going ~8 over the 70 mph limit. Fellow with out of State plates passed me going at least 90 with a cell phone on top of steering wheel. Have seen that other times. Heck of a lot more fun taking back roads, not dealing with 18 wheeler tire threads always in the road and my radar detector going off when a trooper coming the other way pushes their instant on when they see a Vette!

If you haven't followed posts where folks are rear ended with what doesn't look like major damage but the C8 is being written off by the insurance company! Reminded of when I visited the large business in town that takes cars the insurance companies wrote off and sells at auction. I had been to a Car Show with my ProStreet Rod and a fellow had a matching motorcycle to his ride. So I looked at several crashed Harley Davidson's that were written off by the Insurance company, Most had front end damage and thought can buy an aftermarket a fork assembly and have painted to match my car. BUT they sold for prices not that far from a new Harley. I asked my All-State agent who had a Harley, how could that be. He laughed and said with the cost of Harley parts and labor to repair we're far better giving the owner the depreciated value. They aren't happy but it best for our business Same with rear ended C8s!

Finally...someone actually answered the question. My 21 C8 got rear ended. Luckily we were very slow. No frame damage but the repairs wound up causing $6500 to her insurance company but when I got through with them, it wound up costing her insurance $12500! ! I would appreciate it if you would let me know where you got the kit for your C8 and how difficult was it to get installed? Thanks!

With the advent of bright led strips now, one could mount a strip along the lower edge of the camera pod panel, for an actual "high mounted" third brake light.

In all my driving, the idiot behind me is the one I am LEAST able to compensate for, so I'd like all the help I can get, however small a difference it can make,

Agree, installed a 3rd brake light pulser on my C6. Unit was small, included plugs and was installed by removing a tail light from the outside.

The pulsing modules are available on eBay and Amazon for less that $10. BUT for both, to access the wires have to remove the bumper. For the C7 someone found a way to slice into a PC board accessibly under the passenger floor, as I recall. Have not seen a post of installing on C8. Would have thought someone installing ay a high wing where the bumper has to be removed would have installed.

SIDEBAR
I feel the same about folks behind. To keep my 63 year driving record of not having an accident with another car I have my Cell Phone set to not receive calls or text beeps when moving. Never installed Blue Tooth connection so I won't be tempted. Plenty of time to answer mostly useless text messages when I stop. Spend my time watching out for folks who are distracted.

My MO when approaching a red light etc is to slow down well before and crawl to a stop. Makes folks behind slow with me. Particularly when those behind are back some distance when I approach the light. In SC you are allowed to text or hold the phone when stopped. Often see folks approaching a stop light with phone in hand on the steering wheel looking to see who sent the last useless text message. When light turns green can see some parked next to me at a light with thumbs going a mile a minute oblivious to the green light!

So far have continued my LUCK! Probably the most scarry is when I see a car coming the other way going over the center line. Hmm are they distracted? Look for places to run off the road if needed. But in my rural area often no shoulders and water drain ditches! Had a Pick-up coming in my lane on a two lane road, foot on brake, slowed and fortunately driver jerked the wheel and got back in his lane. Scarry!

Thought I'd do a little research.. From all i can determine they're simply not legal in the USA. California seems to allow them as long as they're not faster than 4x/second but Federally illegal. Not that the feds are gonna be the ones pulling you over.

you know if I had wanted a moronic answer to normal question I would have come to you first. I think you’d be much better off just sitting in the back and shocking yourself.

You can have your opinion. You can publish your opinion. You can install your blinking third brake light. Great country we live in, no?

My Corvette doesn’t have a back seat.

Default C8 3rd brake light flasher

I bought the flasher connection(for the c8) and saw at one point you could go behind the drivers seat a remove a panel insert the module. Now I can't find that video All I see is removing the whole rear bumper put out by Paragon. Frankly I think someone removed that video not saying who did it Now I may be stuck with removing the whole rear bumper which is riidiculous (sp)
