On how BG is going to produce all the Vette variations on a single production line? You have Base C8, Z06, ZL1, E-Ray, and Zora PLUS the SUV. I predict that base C8 production will decrease significantly or the variants will have such a low production rate as to be per unit unprofitable to make. What say you?
I wouldn’t think the BG plant will produce the SUV. I I saw it’s based off off Caddy SUV.
I wonder if Corvette owners will be brand loyal and get the SUV to go with there C8?🤔🤔
A lot of Porsche owners thought the Porsche SUVs would ruin the brand, but the opposite happened.
Lambo…
Ferrari…
Austin Martin…
Rolls Royce…
Mustang…
Corvette…sure, why not😜

None of the variants are going to be unprofitable. At $125K and up for Z06s, GM is making a boatload of profit on them. And the ZR-1 and Zora will be priced as high as necessary to ensure profitability.
And like 2024 said, the SUV is a completely different platform, and will be built elsewhere.

I’m sure the plant will adjust and produce whatever orders are placed by buying customers. I am not sure that models costing upwards of $150k will make a significant impact on the production line.
Highly doubtful the SUV will be built in Bowling Green. It's built on a totally different chassis/platform. The C8 variants are all easily assembled on the same assembly line. The platform was designed from the beginning to have these variants. Base Corvette production always goes down as the other variants are introduced. No big deal.
The number of variants built for corvette has nothing on the number built for say the Silverado. They know how to manage the variation and the systems are so sophisticated these days. It’s actually very nice that we get so many possible variations to make it our own.
And I don’t want to down play the complexity because it’s the same reason why the likes of Tesla and other new car makers don’t have a large variation. It’s not easy!

I agree but disagree. Absolutely, it's not easy, but with the right minds and computers it is do-able. GM shows that very well. In fact, if Elon wanted to waste a little time and sit with some others, my bet would be he/they could figure it out, and fast. The difference is, as a small co., he IS doing just fine. Could he make more? Sure. Does he HAVE to? No, he's got other fish to fry. jmo
And it is even more difficult when you throw in the right hand drive units for the foreign markets. I think it should make it more interesting (fun for some but not all) for the assembly line workers.

I just had a thought, is it possible to get a right hand drive C8 in the states? My grandpa at one time had a '32 Rolls Royce RHD and that car was so much fun to tool around in.

We do agree. He has other and more profitable fish to fry but if cars could be done easily and profitably, he would make more variants. Not rocket science but there are many years of learning they counts.
But again, I agree it’s not his main worry…many other fish to fry..and in my opinion more profitable and maybe interesting to him as well.
The suv won’t come off the same line. I don’t want a Corvette branded SUV. I lease one every winter and six months later turn it back in, GM employee stipulation I must keep it 6 months.
I'd wager the Corvette SUV will be a clone of a Cadillac variant. And not a composite body. So it can be built on the same line. I.e. GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado.

Silverados are produced in 6 assembly plants making over 500,000 of them a year. Apples and oranges.
