Keeping it short, my girlfriend this morning started up my Corvette and noticed that it wouldn't allow her to reverse. She said she went into neutral to back out (it was on an incline) and started driving around the neighborhood to see what was wrong. She noted that it wouldn't shift up, so she was driving around in the first gear for around 5-10 minutes until it eventually did. She also noted that she was getting messages saying idle creep would engage and disengage and the transmission light was on when she was driving it around the neighborhood. She then drove it around for approx 30 minutes where the only issue seemed to be that the engine light was on but said it drove like normal.
Fast forward to now where I just checked out the car, only thing I noticed was that the engine light was in fact on and the car was able to go into reverse. Other than that, no messages or other warnings. Is anyone able to identify what's going on with my car? My local Chevy dealership said the earliest someone was able to look at it is next Thursday.
The car itself has around 15k miles, a 2020 Corvette Convert.
Maybe someone who had your problem will chime in. Since your engine light is on, I am sure codes were set off and if you know someone who has a code reader, you could check the codes and see what your problem is.
Go to the dealer would be my advice. The vehicle is covered under warranty. The quicker the dealer looks at it the faster they can diagnosis what’s going on.
could be a reflash required. Could be a valve body replacement. Could be fixed by a triple flush.
Btw you can push the OnStar button in your car to get the codes that have been set. Just tell the OnStar people you want a free diagnosis emailed to you ..
then you will have the codes being set and can research that if you like. You can give the codes tot he dealer if you like.
bottomline contact the dealer and bring the car in for their world class GM corvette tech to figure out what’s going on and how to resolve the issue.
Doesn't this sound like the typical failure mode for cars that have had transmission issues? What's atypical is the mileage. Usually these issues happen at low mileage.
