Your still not getting it! You do not want a car that was PDIed in a day or attempted to be so. There are dozens of items to be checked and performed/ installed. A decent detail itself would be half a day !I don't know of anybody who wants theirs "turned" ??? How long have you waited for this car ?. Let the dealer do his thing!!! Then arrange your schedule for a fun event
You came here asking for advice from people who have done this already and ypu argue with them all. This is a cluster that has Already found its place to happen !
And guess what...it's my post to say what i want! LOL. I'm not arguing with anyone nor asking for advice. I asked if someone could explain why Onstar gets stuck for hours on end only to all of a sudden show up hundreds of miles away. You said the PDI will take 2-5 days, maybe it will. The CD told me last week that they will do their due diligence with the PDI and give me a perfect car in about a day. I'm not arguing with anyone...that's what was said.
My car was also shown stopped in the freeway last night. I did notice that it didn’t show an address.
I pinged it again the morning and same location with no address. This afternoon I let the GM app sit for a few minutes and whamo, it updated and showed a location several hundred miles down the freeway.
I think it need a few moments to power up the car then it will update the location if it can connect to a cell tower. If no address location is shown, the system hasn’t made a connection.
Just my thoughts. Might be wrong🤔🤔😀

I recall you said you are on the west coast.....maybe our cars are on the same truck. It was in Baird Tx last i checked
I checked OnStar this morning and my C8 made it to the dealer.
OnStar has added a layer of ownership security for me.
When you pay for your car and have not seen it during the whole waitlist/ order/ production process, OnStar tracking adds a little reality to it.
You now know it’s real and moving towards your dealer for delivery day. For me a dream that has taken a leap of faith to trust MM and all the steps along the way.
Hopefully the PDI and CD goes off without a hitch.

Congrats man! Yea, it's been a long wait although not as long as i expected. I checked Onstar this morning and it still showed it sitting at a truckstop about 800 miles away which is where it was at 2:00 yesterday afternoon. But after what happened Mon/Tue, i don't trust it's location accuracy! I'm hoping that it fueled up at 2:00 yesterday and traveled another couple hundred miles. That would put it at my CD today and then a Saturday pickup looks realistic!
Personally, I wouldn't make travel plans that can't be easily rescheduled until the PDI is complete. It isn't uncommon for the dealer to find something that needs to be addressed (that is the reason for the I in PDI) and it could take more time for rework, parts, etc. In my case there was some damage during removal from the carrier that needed to be addressed. If you are OK with making 2 trips or staying in a hotel for a few days it isn't a big deal, or if it is a minor issue having it addressed at a dealer near you.
My suspicion was accurate(ish). Now (1 hour after checking the 1st time) Onstar has my car sitting at a truck stop much closer than where it showed it to be between 2:00pm yesterday and 8:00am today. That truck stop is 450 miles from the CD. That being said, i don't know if the driver and my car is actually at the truck stop now, or if he arrived there last night and is further up the road this morning. Onstar has not proven to be accurate whatsoever. Been impossible to know it's location, even within a couple hundred miles. 1 minute it's at a stop in TN, 20 minutes later it's half way across Texas.

Good input and suggestion. Thank you. We have friends in the area of the CD (1 of which is a HOF NFL player!) that i anticipate spending the night with. But i prefer not to hang out for more than a day, and def don't have time for 2 trips!
I put Apple Air Tags in my suitcases for a cruise. They weren't in the room, so I checked their location, and it said one suitcase was still on the dock as the ship sailed away! Turns out, the dock was the last place my phone found the suitcase. It was in fact on the ship. Can't trust any of them all the time!

Do you really live in Las Cruces? Will you be the only C8 owner there? You are so close to West Texas. The speed limit is 80 mph but you can drive as fast as you want and never to go to jail. I settled my 100 mph ticket for peanuts.

I'm in Las Cruces alright! There are 3 other C8's that' i've seen, 2 in my neighborhood. We already have a photo shoot planned at White Sands! The closest CD to me was Gilbert AZ, who called to say it's there and i can plan to pick it up Saturday! I bought my first vette, a C6 in 2012 from Dallas. My son and i flew into Dallas and enjoyed those 80mph speed limits across Texas back to Cruces. Very memorable trip for me
I watched my C8 voyage from Bowling Green to Ventura, Ca. using the OnStar tracking. The problem was, after it arrived at my CD dealership it sat for several days. I finally called to check and they were waiting for several LPO (dealer installed) options to arrive before performing the PDI.
I finally worked it out, but the gist of the story is that OnStar doesn't tell the whole story if you're trying to time a Courtesy Delivery. Arrival date/time at the dealer GPS location does not necessarily equate to availability to you.
