If you are thinking about one of the big dealers, look at the different forums to get an idea of the current wait time and experiences. You can and should get that info from the dealer but the forum members can give you additional insight. MM gets more allocations than anyone and their wait list has been moving fast lately. They have been giving estimates of 3-6 months deposit to delivery recently and their estimates tend to be accurate (assuming you don’t get hit with constraints).

To put in perspective. In 2022 MM sold 1486 while Ciocca sold 1441! So yea more by 45! In 2021 the numbers were Kerbeck/Ciocca combo (as Ciocca bought Kerbeck) =1481, MM=1160!

SIDEBAR
I saved enough from Kerbeck (like ~15% for my "made for me in BG" 2017 Grand Sport at what call their winter prices similar for my C6) that I'll support their efforts and super knowledge on how to deal with my Courtesy Delivers in SC for both the Grand Sport and my C8. They and some others support GM in the winter when many dealers stop buying Vettes. GM does NOT build Vettes for inventory guessing at what colors etc you might like. To avoid layoffs, they offer dealers buying incentives. Have followed Kerbeck discounts by months for years. They increased their inventory in winter and take advantage of the GM incentives and pass them on! That is when I place my order. They had ~250 new C7s in stock at the time. But as all my Vettes I ordered exactly what I wanted and had my car delivered to a dealer 30 miles from my home. Same one who got my C8 directly from BG one week after it was built.

Yep the world is different re availability but still great folks!

For now, I am thinking Ciocca while I kick the tires on other local dealerships in NJ.
I was just browsing MacMulkin and they have published that they will actually deliver to a dealership of your choice.
I wonder how that works, especially when running into issues with the vehicle if any. Oh well, on second thoughts, the car would be under warranty and it is like any other maintenance item.

I am curious if anyone has availed this remote purchase option at MM.

Cheers.

I'm in the Princeton area as well and none of the local dealerships would sell for MSRP. That was about 2 years ago when I was shopping around so things may have changed, but I highly doubt it.

oh ok!
So You did get yours at Ciocca for MSRP + $599 doc fee then?
What color is your ride? I will make sure to wave when I see you
So far, I have seen a torch red coupe and a white HTC regularly on the roads, specifically around Route 1 / I295 area. And just this last Sunday, I saw a red mist with nacelles roof on I295, couldn't tell if it was a coupe or HTC.

This year the number are a bit different. According to C8 tracker.com, MM had 1489 MY2023 c8s built as of today while Ciocca had 1255. Not a big difference but bigger than last year. Also, forum member Bozdx got on MM’s wait list 3/30/23 got an allocation 5/11. I got on MM’s list 2/3/23 at 909 on the list and I got an allocation on 5/11/23 at 473. I don’t know how fast Ciocca’s list is moving but MM’s is moving pretty fast right now.

Interesting - I need to figure out next how the 'other dealer delivery if I bought through MM' works; if I go the MM route, I can save myself doc fees plus enjoy an earlier allocation...
Cheers.

I bought through MM and had the C8 delivered to a dealer near me. In my case the Courtesy Dealer charged $400 to get it delivered to them and did the PDI. It was a very easy process all at MSRP. I live in Ohio.

I got a $3K loyalty discount, as well as an additional $8K “Kerbeck discount” on my 2018 Grand Sport in late December 2018.

Those were the good old days!

For my C8, it was MSRP and almost 13 months wait at Ciocca. That said, as we all know, things were very different during COVID madness.

That makes it even easier then - 400 for dealer charge vs. 600 for local pick up, Is $200 worth any potential ruffles?

Thanks, y'all. May the clarity keep emerging

Yep different times. I recall my 1st Vette purchased from Kerbeck was in late 2007 for my 2008 C6. All over the phone. I called a number of dealers with phone sales at the time. Other large ones. GM must have had a special that week for dealers (perhaps overstocked) on a 3LT that included NAV as my wife said "With your difficulty finding where to go why not get NAV?" I called Kerbeck and for what as a dealer Invoice cost of ~25% discount from MSRP, the young lady quoted me 50%! I asked how and she said we often have different specials. Varies by week.

I called another large dealer and did not mention who but said I had a quote of xyz. Their phone salesperson said, "That must be Kerbeck WE CAN'T TOUCH THAT PRICE!

I look at it this way. If you have any issues, you may be dealing with 2 dealers to resolve any issues, the selling dealer and the CD dealer. I chose not to deal with that potential headache and just go through a single dealer. Ultimately, you're talking about a small % of the total purchasing price which I think is moot. I'd rather have the convenience of working with a local dealer. . even if they are 1.5 hours away. If $600 is really going to make or break your ability to purchase the vehicle, perhaps you need to re-evaluate your finances and be honest with whether or not the purchase is really feasible.

OP

There are a LOT of people on this forum that have done very well with the big three dealers. I won't say otherwise.

But I think this sometimes leaves the impression that you cannot do well with your local Chevrolet dealer. This is not strictly true. Many smaller dealers do sell Corvettes at MSRP plus reasonable add--on fees. (Tax, registration/title, etc. No pure profit mark ups.) I ordered my 2022 from a local dealer. I got on their waiting to order list in Feb 2021, my wait time was 13 months on his waiting list for an allocation, then about 10 weeks from status 2000 to delivery at National Corvette Museum. I think that was comparable to what any of the big three could have done with me at the same time.

Do consider going with one of the big three, but at least check into what a local dealer can do for you. Some of them are not thieves.

All fair points, I am not skimping $200 on a 90k custom build🤓
it’s the sheer irony of paying sticker plus doc fee when all my life, I have paid no more than invoice +500 and it hurts my geek macho to do so…
thanks for all the thoughts folks! Keep them coming…
waiting till July / august timeframe to see the 2024 improvements then pulling the trigger…
cheers.

You should get your deposit and name on the list now as the deposit is refundable and you don't have to commit to your build until your allocation comes up. If you wait until July/August, that's 2-3 months more you'll have to wait for your car to be delivered.
