I was wondering if I could get some input into something that happened today when we test drove a C8. We had previously sat in a C8 at a dealership that had red and black two tone seats, thought it was really comfortable. But today when we test drove one, the seats just seemed like they were super tight on my upper body for both me and my wife. We found the controls on the seat to deflate the side things but that only helped some, it just felt like we were too wide for the seats. Is there some sort of setting or control (or maybe seat type) that could have been causing this? We test drove a C7 a couple weeks ago and had no issues at all. I took a picture of the seat:
If that helps at all. It was a 2LT car. I'm 6'4", 185 pounds so I'm not overweight at all. No problems with C6 seats either, I have them in my C3. So something was weird I thought, C6 and C7 great, C8 for this particular car = very tight.
Thanks. We were trying to decide between C8 and C7 and were leaning C8 until the test drive today.
The pics above are GT1 seats. The two tone were either the GT2 or Competition Sport seats. The comp seats are tighter, so I suspect that you were previously seated in the GT2.
I am 5'-9"" and weigh 168 pounds. I own a '19 Grand Sport with the 1LT interior. The side bolsters on those seats are not adjustable but fit me very well. The seats fit be well are very comfortable to me.
I also own a '21 Stingray with the 2LT interior and the GT2 seats. The seats have adjustable lumbar and bolsters, but they fit me much tighter than than the seats in my '19. I have tried to adjust the side bolsters several times but they seem to be at the maximum width. Based on the seats in my '21, I would think the seats would be very tight on anyone over 170 pounds.
As mentioned, your pic shows GT1 seats, the base seat. I would find some GT2 seats and give them a try. I have the GT2 seats and find them very comfortable.
The additional adjustability goes with the trim levels, not the seats. 2LT/3LT seats have a little more adjustability (I forget what) than a 1LT regardless of the seats. 1LTs come with GT1 seats, 2LTs com with GT1 seats with GT2 seats as an option. 3LTs com with GT2 seats. Competition seats are an option for all trim levels.
All else being equal the GT2 seats should be the most comfortable since they have dual density foam. But the overriding factor is how well your particular build fits the seat. Some people find the GT1 seats more comfortable than the GT2 seats.
I have read that the GT1 seats are best for larger, heavier people.
I also believe the GT1 seats are all Mulan leather while the GT2 seats have leather inserts/centers.
I am a 230lb fat ***. I am 2nd on a 2024 C8 list. I haven't yet ridden in any C8.
I am ordering a Non-Z51, GT1 seats, 2LT, and will avoid real leather. I want the most Touring ride available.
I agree the GT2 seats look better but seem to have the same form factor as the GT1 seats.
As mentioned, your pic shows GT1 seats, the base seat. I would find some GT2 seats and give them a try. I have the GT2 seats and find them very comfortable.
Comp seats are horrible; GT1 seats are fine for cross-country roadtrips, but still not as comfortable as C7 seats.
I really like my competition sport seats. Drove from Bowling Green back to Florida and found them to be very comfortable and supportive. GT2 seats are good too, but I prefer the look of the competition sport seats.

I had GT1 seats in my 2020 1LT and have GT2 seats in my 2022 3LT. They feel virtually identical to me. Both very comfortable and not tight. I'm 6'1" 220. Not fat.

I and the wife were concerned about which seat to select before ordering our 2LT C8 last year. After being run over in a traffic accident 4 years ago that left me with a broken back and other injuries, picking the right seat was most important if I expected to spend more than an hour in the car. Luckily, our dealer had examples of both the GT1 and GT2 seats for us to try on. In my case, the GT1's were the most comfortable, which is what we spec'd for our C8. Since taking delivery in January, we have taken the car on 3 hour drives without developing any issues with my "old" body. Of course, your circumstances be different...I hope all works out for you Op.
