I live in the Dallas, TX area and I'm seriously considering ordering a 2024 Stingray when the dealers are open for orders. I've read a lot about folks placing their orders with MacMulkin in NH. I want to take museum/factory delivery option and wonder how this works from both an ordering and a servicing point of view. For anyone that has done this how does the ordering and state licensing process work? How does the delivery process work? And lastly, how does it work with your local dealer when it comes to servicing?
I bought one from MM (MacMulkin) back in 2015 and am trying to get on the list for a 2024. If your doing R8C option (Museum Delivery) they act like a dealer you are buying your car from once they car is built, up until the car is built MM will handle the order, the allocation and updates as far as where the car is at in the process. So what happens is place deposit with MM, one your order gets accepted at MM and the car is built, MM will request payment or financing. Once that is done you are free to go pick up the car from Bowling Green. They collect your estimated tax and registration fees for your state. All vehicles must be registered prior to delivery. We report the car delivered to GM once the car is built and invoiced. All vehicles must be paid within 7 days of the car being built. They also have places they have worked out as Courtesy Dealers (ie where you can get the car shipped to from Chevy, but I don't have that list or know if they are near you). My local dealer didn't have an issue last time I did this as they just wanted me to take it there to get serviced, I have heard of some peoples dealers basically "shunning" them, but I haven't run into that in Colorado.
Select museum delivery on the order for $995. Service should never be an issue as all dealers are obligated to provide warranty service.
Sadly, that just isn't true. There are plenty of members here that have had dealers refuse to service Corvettes that were not purchased from them. This seems to be an issue largely in NY.
OP, I've never had a problem with a dealer in the Dallas area refusing to service my out of state purchases.

Pretty good screen to avoid dealers that you probably do not WANT servicing your car.

I couldn't agree more. As Groucho Marx said "I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member." in my case I'd say "I won't do business with any dealer that would refuse to service my car."

Once I had a Toyota and went to get a check engine light cleared at the local Toyota dealer before selling it and he said "Take to the dealer you bought it from and they will clear it" I replied "If I knew my mom was going to die and leave me this car I still would not have told her buy it from you" and walked out.
