I'm at one of the local dealerships in my area discussing them purchasing my C5.
Thus is setting in their show room, close to what I have on order. I pick mine up at the museum July 10th.
No question the C8 is going to be a blast! C8, 3LT, magride. Sticker $87700.00

Okay three dealership didnt play ball, not what i considered a fair offer. But getting to see a Red mist metallic was worth the time. This color is best viewed in person, wow! Cant wait to ser mine in person at three museum, no question this is the color for me.
That color is beautiful. I noticed at car shows last year, everyone walks by other colors, and they always stop and look at red mist cars.
There is something about that color that attracts people. I have had too many red cars, so I went with Metallic Blue. No regrets.
If you buy that car on the floor, it needs a rear wing. Looks bald.

Mine is being built this coming week, 2LT, Z51, MR, Front lift. So it will have the Z51 wing.

No surprise there. #1: You will be lowballed because a person trading in a car is generally not smart enough to know that they could do better selling the car themself. I know, some will say they don't want the hassle, but it doesn't make sense to give up throusands for the easy task of selling a car. #2: Dealers generally don't want a car that is verging on or over 20 years old, regardless of mileage. Exceptions apply but I am talking about most situations.

You are certainly right, dealers always offer the lowest price. I sold my C6 last summer and it was hard to find anyone that was a serious buyer. Everyone wanted to buy it at 4K below KBB wholesale (32K).
Then they wanted to send a cashiers check. (#1red flag) Or several local dealers and wholesalers wanted to pay wholesale and pick up the car, pay ten days later. (#2 red flag) It should not be that hard to sell a clean low mile car for wholesale, but it was.
Nothing but scammers and low ballers. I ended up selling it for KBB wholesale a local Chev dealer that always has a lot of Corvettes. Super clean car, they advertised it for 7K more than they paid me. It was gone in a few weeks.
I agree, sell it yourself and get more money, but my last experience was not easy.

What did they offer you for your C5? I sold mine for $14k to a dealer. Funny story my buddy was talking to his buddy which is the sales manager at the dealer in one town and tells him the delivering dealer offered me $13k for my C5. So he ups the anti to $14k so he can buy the C5. Both dealers are Chevy dealers and owned by the same guy.
Not all dealers lowball. I had my C7 on Carguru's last Spring and a local dealer contacted me. We settled on a price which was nearly what I was asking for it which was $10K more than I had paid for the car 4 years prior. He put it on the lot for $6K above what he paid me and the price was lowered a couple of times until it sold for about $2500 more at the end of the summer.
If you want to sell to a dealer get prices from multiple dealers and not just Chevy. I sold a Mazda to a Ford dealer and my Nissan to a Chrysler dealer last year. They offered the best prices by far versus the respective dealers where I purchased the vehicles from and had them serviced.
I've seen a few red mist cars up close and it's a very nice color, this coming from a guy that's not a big fan of red in general. That paint just really pops.

Originally they offered $19,000, once there they lowered their offer to $18,000.00. I was more put out that they played the bit and switch on price. My dealer I am purchasing my C8 through has a standing offer of $17,750.00 already, I would rather let them have it just because they are working well with the C8.
I should add that my C5 has 26500 miles and is show room condition.
Just sell it privately or shop a few more dealers for their level of interest and quotes if you want to go the dealer route and I don't blame you.
I possibly could have held out for a private sale and made maybe another $1K or so but the hassle of dealing with tire kickers and collecting a payment of $50K+ from a private buyer was just not worth it to me. It was really easy as the dealer met me at my bank, had me sign the required papers and handed me a check that I verified and deposited on the spot. Took all of 10 minutes to complete the transaction and zero hassle or worry.
Post it in FS ad on the C5 forum and on Facebook marketplace. You didn’t mention what year it is, but the dealer offer seems fair and don’t need to deal with the public.
It's easier to do the trade rather than dealing with low ballers and scammers. The dealer will deduct the tax credit from the new car. So you would have to figure out if it's worth the time and hassle to sell it privately or just do the trade.
