Default Heat in Trunk

Ok, I know it gets hot in the C8 rear trunk, bit how hot. We're planning on a 500 mile trip this July and I want to take my golf clubs with. Does it get hot enough to melt, loosen up the glue on the club heads or grips?

It gets warm but I don't think any worse than leaving your clubs in a garage or something similar on a hot summer day. I think youtube videos shows it getting as high as 130 degress or so.

It gets warm but its more for not putting cold things like groceries in the trunk. Golf clubs will be totally fine.

Hopefully my question about heat will not be viewed as high jacking this topic. I have been meaning to ask but thought it would be best not to start a new thread.

For those who have had their Vettes for a while: is there a heat issue inside the coupe or vert, mainly on the seats or dash. My experience is limited to a 2016 coupe and it was fine. Thanks

People have been taking the rear tub apart and adding extra heat shielding.
I have often wondered if someone would cut a hole in the back to install a small temperature controlled circulation fan or something since there is a void behind the rear bumper.

The inside of my C8 is noticably cooler than the inside of my C7, I imagine its because everything is behind you rather than in front and underneath you.

I noticed here on the Forum that a vendor is offering an insulation kit for the C8. It may be "Block It" around $125.00.

No the C8 interior runs cooler than prior generations, largely because it doesn't have the exhaust pipes running through the tunnel. Like any car, it can get damned hot inside if you leave it parked in the sun.

As far as the trunk, I avoid putting food, medicines, makeup and the like back there, but otherwise it's not an issue. No, it's not going to melt your golf bags or glue. I did 1500 miles in 5 days last month, with a maximum of ~ 500 miles in one day. Had an Under Armour nylon duffle in the back with my clothes, and everything was fine.

Here's what I did, with good results, after ruining some of my wife's makeup: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...for-trunk.html

I bought that insulation kit, and my trunk is much cooler.

I bought some Thermo-tec insulation material and attached it to the back of the carpet in the trunk. Seems to work.

Do you have a coupe or HTC?

My clubs are in the trunk all of the time and I usually drive it every day to the golf course . No issues here nor did I have a problem driving on a 450 trip. Also don't have a problem with groceries in the trunk. If you leave the car in the sun then you'll see 100 to 130 temps but while driving I do not see anything more then 10-20 degrees over outside temps. I also think the HTC is cooler then the coupe but this is my opinion. You should have no problems.

Interestingly, I feel the C8 is substantially cooler than my Infiniti G37x Coupe after being parked in the sun. I live in Florida so it does get hot. Not only the cabin feels cooler when I get in after a day in the sun but it also cools much faster as soon as the A/C is on. The second point may be due to the small cabin of the Corvette overall (the G37x Coupe is a 2+2) so there is less air to cool, and maybe the first point is due to the fact that he Infiniti has a very large rear glass that dumps a lot of heat inside the cabin, but I have lived here since 1985 and I have had a lot of different cars and the Corvette is by far the most comfortable to get in after a full day in the sun. I do not feel that a sun shade is necessary, where I have been using the sun shade on the Infiniti for about a month before I got the Corvette in May. Would not have influenced a purchasing decision, but very nice to have.
Once you drive, the heat goes in the back, so it remains comfortable.

The heated trunk is a feature for when you pick up food from a restaurant to take home. Keeps it warm until you arrive.

looked at 2 utube videos.
-32 degrees outside trunk went to mid-90's
-91 outside trunk went to mid 130's
-TKOPermormance has a heat shield u can add in your trunk that cuts temp by 30 degrees. Just installed in my C8; takes about 1 hr and $125

It's partially the engine behind you, but there's also less window to create that greenhouse effect. The back window is but, but you have the window behind your head to somewhat contain that heat. The C7 didn't have that.
