Went out yesterday, beautiful day for a convertible, 87 and sunny, drove about an hour and everything was fine. 2023 HTC…3700 miles..
Car was parked for about an hour, started it up and drove about 30 minutes, everything was fine.
Parked again for 45 minutes, got in the car, put the roof down and the whole instrument panel was blank….nothing…drove away (with no speedometer) decided to try the hud and it appeared,,..at least I could see my speed…then all of a sudden the alert code 506 appeared on the dash and it would not reset….anybody have any idea what it means ????
I was going to suggest disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a few minutes and letting all the computers reboot. I had an infotainment screen map issue with my 22 GMC truck a few months back and that cleared it up.
I had my battery disconnected this past week for a couple of days to change out my brake pads and haven’t even started the car since reconnecting it, but I have already noticed that the windows will need to be re-indexed when I do. To my knowledge all other settings will remain saved.

With all the electronics in today’s cars, it is not surprising that an occasional glitch shows up. Hope it was just that to your car and no more codes show up for a long, long time.
I've posted this a few times before but worth another post.
It's not in the owners manual. I found out about it from this video. First, start the car. Shut the car off. Then open the drivers side door for 90 seconds (and you have to have it open for no less than 90 seconds). Close door, start the car and the computer cache has now been reset, hopefully taking care of any electronic gremlins one might be having. Watch the video using the link below at the 1:44:46 mark.
