Default C8 DCT update

Saw this posted the other day, surprised hasn’t been covered here yet. I’m hoping the change over will be with beginning of 24MY. That would be a nice surprise to make me happier about my allocation being pushed into 24MY, lol.

Another instance of confusing a recall with a TSB...You'd think professional car magazine writers would know better.

That’ll be good news for when I replace mine in 6 years with an ERAY (or ZR1/ZORA if my number comes up.

Might make you happy about a 24 allocation, but with improvements come potential other problems. I believe it’s a crap shoot with any vehicle you purchase. Some have issues and some don’t.

Nice to see it'll finally be coming with the proper amount of fluid straight from the factory!

Thanks, this good news. I am 2nd on MY2024 list at my local dealership. I would really like to have the new DCT trans-case and fluid level.
I hope it is released for the first MY2024 cars.

Best wishes to all;
Ron

This is kinda old news released 9~10 months ago where it's mentioned that these are "running changes" being made (continuous improvement process) in which many improvements have already been implemented in later '23 models and further improvements will continue as part of the continuous improvement process...

We don't know if they are adding more fluid from the factory, fixing the baffling/pickup, raising the fill level, or some combination of them. It is quite possible they are fixing the problem and not significantly increasing the fluid capacity or fill level. People that do a Stingray DCT fluid replacement way it takes ~8.5-9 quarts to do a drain and refill. One person has reported that they did a Z06 drain and refill and it took 9.5 quarts so not much difference.

Once we see 2023 Z06 and 2024 DCT fluid capacities we will have a clue.

This was also previously reported in the "other" Corvette forum...

As long as it's fixed and ready to go right off the showroom floor is what matters here. Glad the engineers thought better of their initial decision and attacked the root of the issue one way or the other.

Anything that makes the transmission in the C8 more reliable is welcome.

Hopefully, as part or the case redesign they will put the fill plug in a location that does not require total disassembly of the air box and trunk!

That fill plug doesn't get used during normal fluid fills, it is only used for the track fill. If a track fill is no longer necessary then it won't matter.

If my 2020 needs a DCT replacement under GMEPP at six years from now does the car get the “upgraded” DCT?

I have wondered the same thing.I rather doubt MY23 or earlier would get the new design becasue how would they communicate to the customer the difference in checking the fluid level. The owners manual would not have the instructions for this new transmission. Perhaps othesr have examples of what has happened in the past when a new component is avaialble that changes what needs to be communicated to the owner. I got a new tranmission in my 23 about a month ago. I woudl love to think it is new and improved but doubt that it is.

“The Tremec TR-9080 unit would receive both a new case and a revised cooling system as running changes either later this year or at the start of 2024 production” My TPW is 7/17......maybe I'll get lucky!

If electronics are different for operation of the newer DCT I can completely understand. As far as checking fluid level that’s been my dealership’s job since the C5.
