What do the wide gray lines and the yellow narrow lines mean on the front view camera image? I think the gray lines show where the tires are aimed, but what do those yellow lines indicate? Are those showing the outside edge of the body, or of the rear view mirrors? The Owner's Manual does not explain what these lines are for. The attached photo shows the front view with the gray and yellow lines. This is the front view from a C8 that shows gray and yellow lines. What do those mean?
It doesn't say anywhere, but ....... Pull up next to a curb .. turn on the camera, Park. Get out and look straight down at the edge of the car... Yellow line matches the edge.

Ok Zorm thanks for the info. I'm going to try that, but are you saying that will tell you if the body will clear something but you could still rip the mirrors off?
I read somewhere that the yellow lines depict the outside edge of your right and left side mirrors. I use the yellow lines as a guide when I pull into my garage. Works really well.

How do you use the yellow lines to know that your mirrors are going to be inside the garage door opening? Do you have marks on the floor or something that you match the yellow lines up with?
The picture above shows that you can see far enough in front of the C8 to line the edges of the yellow lines with the garage door or whatever object you are trying to avoid. The edges of the yellow lines are the edges of the mirrors, if the yellow lines don't hit the object in front of you then the mirrors won't hit either. I use this view to keep my driver side mirror from hitting the garage when I pull in and I use the grey lines to line up the tires on the bumper stops on my garage floor so I know I'm far enough in the garage to close the door.

I use two guides to make sure that I pull into the garage in the same position every time and always clear the edge of the garage door frame with the right outside mirror. I’ve marked the centerline of my garage parking space with white tape. Before that tape becomes visible in my front camera I’ll use the yellow lines on the screen to make sure they’re inside the edge of the garage door frame on the right side. Shortly thereafter the white tape becomes visible on the front camera and I’ll center the tape on the nose of the car (there’s actually two lines due to the overlap on the two front cameras…so I split the difference) and pull in to where I’ve taped a stop line in front of the car. Works great every time and ensures clearance from the garage door frame as well as our other car parked in the adjacent space.
I always fold in my mirrors when parking in the garage. With the mirrors folded in, I guess I have a little buffer when looking at the yellow lines. I still keep the edge of the garage entry outside of the yellow lines.
I used to use the front view that shows the left side, right side on the bottom and the combined view on the top. I recently switched to the single combined view (the view shown in the first post), it shows a lot farther ahead which is helpful when approaching a parking block or curb as well as helping me line up with the tape stripe parking guide I have on my garage floor.
Thanks for all your responses, but there were several different opinions about what those yellow lines meant. So I did a test to be sure I knew the right answer.
I marked my driveway in front of my C8. One line matched up to the outside of the body, and one line matched up with the outside of the mirror. When I started the car and looked at the front view, it was very obvious that the yellow lines mean the outside of the body, not the mirrors. There is about a 5-inch difference between these two lines, so it wasn't hard to tell that the body was the right answer. There isn't much difference between the outside of the tires and the outside of the body, so those gray and yellow lines are not far apart. Knowing this will help when I pull up to a drive through pharmacy or bank.
Related but different perspective, when pulling forward and watching curbs, the curb seems closer on the camera view than what it actually is on my car. I can get right up to it in camera view and have a few inches to spare when I get out and look.
My opinion - I never rely on those lines. I use them to center the car in a space (doors or parking space lines) but if I have any doubt about mirror or body clearance I verify it directly one way or another.
