What is the consensus of placing deposits & ordering from multiple dealers? I'm thinking of trying one or two of the big dealers and then one of my local dealers. Would this be frowned upon or is this common practice?
Does Chevy cancel/blacklist buyers who try to do that? I remember reading that Stellantis would cancel & blacklist some buyers who tried to buy multiples of one car, but in that case I think it was 5+ orders to any single person.
I had two deposits down for my 2023 (local dealership and MM). I got an allocation almost on the same day. I ended up going with the local dealership since they sell at MSPR and their doc fee vs the courtesy delivery fee were basically a wash.

This isn’t actually ordering multiple cars. It’s just getting on multiple lists hoping to get an allocation.
No harm in doing this. I ordered from Criswell and also a local dealer. My allocation for Criswell came up and the local dealer said I wasn't even close to getting my allocation through them (this was at the 18 month mark). Canceled my order with the local dealer with no issues.

Multiple deposits are OK, but you would lose your deposit if you order [you are given an allocation and provide a "build"] a car and then cancel.
I’ve got a deposit down at one of the “big 3” and was also on the list at a little small town dealer. My order with the small town dealer just went to 3000, but I’m not asking for my deposit back from “big 3” until the deal is done. If little dealer tries to play a game to add an ADM now because the strike happens or something, then I can still walk away knowing I’m not that far from getting an allocation at the other dealer (just hit 11 month mark with big 3 dealer)…
I had deposits at 2 of the big 3. One came through, I emailed the other over the weekend and they are working on refunding my deposit. Be courteous and read what you're agreeing to, it will work out.
