Hey folks, I have lurked around here since the C8 was introduced, I have never had an interest in Corvettes till the mid engine beast appeared. I have been dropping hints on the wife for a couple years now, and she really has shown no interest in the Vette, till she seen a yellow C8 at a cruise night we took our 7 year old grandson to, so he can see all the "old fashioned cars". She said "if you get a Vette it has to be yellow", not my first choice in colors but that was my window! Last week I stopped in to my local dealer, sat down with a manager and built a Yellow 3LT coupe, Natural dipped interior, non Z51, with splash guards and Mag ride, deposit placed. It is intended to be our touring car, it will be driven a lot and I highly doubt that I will ever track run it.
I join forums for all my vehicles pretty much, cars, motorcycles and snowmobiles mostly. I picked this forum because when I google a question about the C8 this forum is always near the top of the results. I am a retired mechanic so I intend on doing all my own maintenance except for the free oil and dct filter at 7,500 miles. Glad to be here.
Welcome. The wives get the lead vote! For my wife, it has to be a convertible and agree with everything else.
I also want a GT car, a touring car. So I ordered a non-Z51 and no mag-ride, car. I will never need the features .
For me, I can put my car in Touring, Sport, or Track mode, without changing the ride quality.
Some will say the mag-ride gives a better ride than standard shock absorbers. I don't thick so.
Best wishes to all;
Ron
My C8 is my 5th Corvette and when I talked to my wife about ordering it all she said was get a convertible. Yes mam! My C5 was a convertible and we kept it for 13 years we enjoyed it so much. She hated riding with me on twisty roads because she can get car sick but in the C8 I take curves she hated 10-15MPH faster and she doesn’t even notice.
I don’t track my Corvettes except for maybe a slow track ride with a Corvette club so I didn’t get the Z51 package. I did get Mag Ride and my wife - a non-car gal - noticed immediately when I moved it from My Mode (where I had it set up aggressively) to tour mode. That plus the fact that Ferrari licensed it from GM to use on their cars tells me it’s a great technology. I also got performance exhaust but no spoiler on this car. It’s meant to compete with the European sports cars and I think it looks more exotic without a spoiler.

Welcome to the forum, you're going to like the car.
As a note on doing your own maintenance, you won't be able to do it "by the book" unless you have a scan tool that can perform the hydraulic system flush prior to DCT filter removal.
Welcome!
Y'all are going to really enjoy this car. It’s great for touring in as well.
My wife shocked me when she saw the C8 for the first time.
I have a friend that’s the car sales manager at a large dealer. He told me the Chevy C8 show car(pre sales VIN#) was at the dealer. The wife and I were driving by and I stopped in to look. We looked it over. I was still sitting in the car looking at the interior and I hear her voice, How much is the deposit? I didn’t have to saying anything but write a check.
She loves the car. She’s hated all my other Vettes.
About once a month when she in it I hear, This is a really nice car. By far our least expensive one too.
OP, unless there's a lot of C8's in your area get prepared for a LOT of looks/stares/waves and people asking about your car, kids wanting their picture taken with it etc. Accelerate Yellow really stands out and looks amazing in the sunshine. On cloudy days or toward dusk it takes on a slightly greenish hue to it. I belong to a Corvette club with around 150 members and there's only two of us (so far) that have AY cars. You're going to love it.

, Well, that's something I haven't seen in the multiple vids I've viewed on the DCT. Thanks
