Since I'm still waiting on my C8, I come up with a few questions from time to time, when I'm not busy hitting refresh on my GM status code.....LOL
A few years ago I had a C6 that I installed a Billy Boat exhaust on. The BB setup had a same remote that allowed me to make the exhaust loud or tame. This allowed me to not wake the neighbors up in the morning and get out of the neighborhood without pissing everyone off. Once out of the immediate vicinity I would open up the exhaust and let er' rip until I saw a local officer of the law, where upon I silenced the beast.
With the C8 I know that there are Modes that allow you to configure brakes, steering, ride, and exhaust. But is there a convenient button to silence the exhaust at a moments notice?

Well yes and no. You have stealth mode however you must navigate through the infotainment screen to deploy it. I do believe you could program stealth into Z mode and it would deploy at the touch of that steering wheel button. However the exhaust sound isn't really that loud except for initial start up.
Yup, you can program MyMode to be the quietest exhaust setting; it's what I use to cruise in & out of my neighborhood.

So if I sent My Mode to the quietest exhaust sound and Z Mode to the loudest. Then upon startup, I understand that the car will always start in My Mode (thus quiet exhaust in the morning) then upon leaving the hood, I could hit the Z Mode button on the steering wheel. Can the Modes be changed while moving or does one have to stop put the car into Park, then switch modes.
Sort of yes - I usually drive around in Z mode which I have set to the loudest exhaust level (3 bars). If I press the Z button it will revert to Tour mode with exhaust at the 2nd quietest level (1 bar).
However for the initial startup the car is always in the loudest mode - at least for the first 5 seconds roughly - before it reverts to whatever mode you have it set at. I started a whole thread on that exact subject recently and there’s really no way around that.

You are correct. Modes can be changed on-the-fly. When you toggle out of Z-Mode it defaults to Tour mode, so just flip the dial mode selector once and you're back into MyMode. If you shutdown in MyMode, you will restart in MyMode.

All this is true, and the modes can be changed in real time while driving. However... unless you're in stealth mode, read: even in the quietest exhaust mode, the initial exhaust "bark" is still pretty loud. For the sake of my neighbors I start her up in the morning while the garage door is still down.

Fortunately it appears the neighbors are accustomed to the initial "bark". Until recently I had a 2018 Jaguar F-Type that had a similar good morning wake up growl.

I've said this before... the F-Type exhaust note is top 5 all time for me. Love the way that car sounds

The gurgles and pops of that exhaust are the best! But the Jag maintenance costs are 2-3X the C8. I sold my F-Type just a few months before the 5 year bumper to bumper expired for that reason alone.
You can start the car in Weather mode, the quietest possible setting with the NPP. You have to keep your foot off the brake, press and hold the Start button for ~5 seconds. Release the Start button once the car is active, then you can select Weather mode with your dial. Then apply the brake and push the Start button like normal. Unfortunately, you still get the bark, but once that settles down, the exhaust is a quiet as it's ever going to get. We played around with this with a buddy's C8.
You can also just pop the car into Weather mode which will instantly close the valves. All in, the C8 with NPP is not that loud so you really don't have much to worry about. I mean, you're not leaving your drive at 4500rpm after all. Certainly not anywhere near your C6 with aftermarket pipes.

I wish there was a setting to keep that bark with the factory exhaust. It’s not bad but could be better.

weather mode apparently has exhaust set to stealth
