Default Interior Sueded Microfiber Inserts

Hello All, are the interior surfaces with perforated sueded microfiber inserts more difficult to maintain than the non sueded inserts? I worry about the upkeep of suede. Any experiences with challenges with the interior suede? Just trying to select the best option in my 2024 order. Thx in advance...

Default Sueded inserts

I have the sueded insert on my 2019 Grand Sport. It was warmer to get into on spring and fall days in MN. Then moved to SW Florida and it is much cooler to get into if it has sat in the sun. Wipe with a damp micro fiber towel (just water) and they look like new. 35,000 miles and the steering wheel looks like new. I am hoping to have a 24 in 8 weeks (if no strike) and I ordered the two-tone with sueded inserts again.

No. They wear almost forever. They're not really suede, it's a microfiber (plastic) material. GM's version of Alcantara. I think it's easier to maintain than leather, to be honest. My wife got some suntan lotion on the passenger seat, and it cleaned up with nothing more than a damp terrycloth towel. If you really make a mess of them somehow, Sonax Alcantara cleaner works great.

The one thing to keep in mind is the steering wheel. Because your hands tend to get greasy, the wheel will absorb more sweat and dirt than a leather one. Using Sonax every 2 or 3 months keeps it looking like new.

I put 36K miles on the inserts in my C7 in 6 years, and they looked almost like new. I've got 20K on my C8, and ditto.

They're cooler in hot weather, warmer in cold weather, and you won't slide around on them like you might on leather (depending on the pants you're wearing).

I had both the steering wheel and seats on my 17' C7 GS. I liked it so much I ordered my 22' with them as well

Good to know this. I had suede inserts in my 2015 Impala and after 7 years, the seats still looked like new.

I have 4,000 miles and mine look brand new and I’ve never even cleaned them. Obviously I don’t jump in after cutting the grass or swimming in the river, but they look factory new. As do the Alcantera seats in my 94 RX7.

go for it. If you get the 3LT the alcantera roof panel is incredible looking and worth the price ALONE - was admiring mine this evening……

That’s common from what I’ve heard…..mine fits like a glove. Was it too big or small? My buddy has one that was slightly too big at the surface by the center console. He took some sandpaper and knocked down the surface a few mils and it fits like mine. I guess it’s the variability in production on the Vette line.

Diamond Mats….Google the phrase. It’s a UK company. Mine are black with orange stitching but they are available in every Vette color from what their website indicates. The photo is after about 2 years installed. They are “leather” (faux) and clean up very easy.

the upper countoor was wrong, and the inner dimention was way off from one side to the other. one side was way too thick.

Don't worry about it. If it proves to be a problem later a good upholsterer can replace them with whatever you prefer at the time. Been there, done that.
