Has anyone else heard anything about this? A friend sent me this, said he saw it posted on FB.
"I talked with Classic Chevy in Houston today. They said GM'S new protocol for the C8 is a full free service at 3000 miles, oil change, trans and DCT filter. You have to leave it overnight, so they can do a cold start before service. They said the issue with the trans was due to the service being done while it was still hot. They said bring it in at 3000 miles. Don't shoot the messenger, just letting you know what they told me today."

Tell them to give you the TSB number or sales sheet that spells this out. Dealers are notoriously wrong and often mis-interpret things, especially if you are talking to the salesmen. My dealership has some of the nicest people I've met at a dealership, they are very no hassle kind of people, don't try and pull anything on you, just a good group of people. But even they make mistakes. When I was doing my paperwork on my 2023 they told me I had one year to get my free oil change and transmission filter change. I politely reminded them GM changed that in 2021 to 2 years. They didn't believe me so I told them to look it up. Sure enough they were wrong and apologized for the mistake. Which also means they mis-informed some of their customers who purchased 2021 and 2022 C8's.
I did some extensive internet searching and can't find anything on this, found the post on facebook though, which many chimed in on. The reason they want to keep it is the first service requires a flush procedure, which the fluid needs to be up to temp, then needs to cool down in order to drop the fluid, which could take hours, so likely the only way to get it done is you would need the car there first thing in the morning and they need to start on it first thing. Over the years I've found that it pays to know how procedures work so you don't end up in a situation where the dealer calls you telling you they need to keep your vehicle over night because they can't complete the work in the given time. Most of the time if I need to drop a vehicle off for service, I always schedule for first thing in the morning.
As for the first service at 3000 miles, that is BS, you have 2 years to get the free service done. Those who don't drive it alot pay for the first oil change after a year and then get the free oil filter change and trans filter change in the 2nd year.
When I bought my 2023 in June, my salesman insisted the Sirius XM service was only good for 1 month due to a recent change in the offer on Corvettes. When I got home, the paperwork and the car clearly showed I had a year of Sirius XM and only a month of On Star.
I called him, and as stated above, he apologized and said he would update their records for future Corvette salesmen.
I call BS. If they can't show that policy in writing, find another deale.
GM gives one free oil and filter change, and DCT filter change, within the first two years. The DCT filter needs to be change by 7500 miles, and if you change it early you should change it again at 7500 miles. So yes, GM will pay for that service at 3000 miles. And you'll have to pay for it again at 7500. And that DCT service is much more expensive than an oil & filter change.
Sounds like the dealer is trying to scam you into paying them for that second service.
What most do, if they're not close to 7500 miles at 1 year, when the oil & filter need to be changed, is to pay out of pocket for the oil & filter change, and then take the free service when the hit 7500 miles or 2 years.
I’m calling BS. My 2021 was just at my dealer last week for the free oil change, DCT flush, and DCT filter. I took it in at 11AM and they had it ready by 3PM. They also spent an hour doing my updates for me. Nothing has changed.
I find FB C8 groups to be filled with ricers who now make enough money to buy a Corvette and they spew a lot of uninformed opinions.

FlyinLow, if you don’t mind me asking, what dealership do you go to? I live in the south metro and am searching for a dependable dealership for C8 servicing. Thanks.
Jim I bought my car from Merit Chevrolet in Woodbury. Nice people, easy to deal with. They get about 15-20 Corvette allocations per year.
They had to do the install of my high wing as it was on constraint when I ordered the car but they actually had one in stock. No issues at all with the install. I also had them put in the 2 addtional quarts of trans fluid as I have the Z51 package, just figured I would have them do it right away since they had to take the back off to put the wing on. I haven't had the car serviced anywhere yet so can't comment. I would think Belzers in Lakeville should be good for service, they are a big dealer and sell probably 30-40 Corvettes. Otherwise my choice would be Suburban in Eden Praire, they sell around 50-60 Corvettes per year and also service a fair number of them.

I heard they are going to get rid of the auto trans and make it a manual
FlyinLow, thank you for the information, I appreciate it. I’ve gone to Matt Saxe in Belle Plaine for service in the past. They’re a former top 100 Signature dealership in sales, and also sponsor a local Corvette club, so I always figured they would be good for servicing. I live in Eagan so it’s a little bit of a haul to get there, however, so I’ve been on the look out for a dealership that’s a little closer to home. Next month I’ll be doing my 7500 mile service, to include the hydraulic system flush and DCT filter change, so I’ll probably go with Matt Saxe for that one. Thanks for your Jeff Belzer/Lakeville suggestion. It’s much closer, so I’ll give them consideration for future servicing. Thanks again.

Lot's of bogus C8 (and other model) warranty maintainece info. This is one!
SIDEBAR
Funny, I took advantage of GM's one time free service at ~3000 miles year 1 when it was 12 months old and OLM said must change engine oil. However knew I would not have 7500 miles end year 2 and foolish to get GM's free service then and in the following year, as they require, get the DCT filter changed again with 7500 miles with few miles on the one changed just to get FREE!
Also saw in the Maintainece info I had to get ALL the DCT fluid changed at 3 years regardless of my mileage and thought "good time to get my 7500 mile DCT filter change again (that all on my dime!) " That is what I just did! Had some other reasons as well BUT if you'll have 7000 to 8000 miles end year 2, smart to wait to take advantage for the one time free service than. BUT it's a narrow mileage window!

You may be well away but for the silent majority who view Threads but Won't/Don't post:
May be semantics BUT the ONLY 7500 service is the DCT filter. The engine oil service was confounded with the DCT filter in some C8 GM info! C8 Engine OIL CHANGE is ONLY dependent on the OLM, which is far more sophisticated than using simple miles. In fact miles was never a good indicator but all we had before the OLM. Gee where those good highway miles with few starts ad stops OR Poor city miles with MANY AND the worse thing for engine and oil cold starts?

JerryU, yes, thanks. Since my oil life monitor is down to 8% I will be doing the oil and filter change along with the DCT filter and flush, as part of the 7500 mile service (I’ll actually be about 7000-7500 miles on the odometer). I paid for the oil and oil filter change at the one year point. This upcoming service will be my 2 year point, so GM will pick up the tab on this one. As a side note, and not much is mentioned on this forum (that I have seen) regarding it, is the subject of tire rotations (side to side for the C8). According to the Owners Manual, tire rotations should be accomplished every 7500 miles, and the manual goes on to further state “The first rotation is the most important” (page 270, 2022 Owners Manual), so I intend to also have that down as part of my 7500 mile service.
^^^
Good point re tire rotation. I did that on my fist C7, a Z51 because I saw a slight difference in wear. Did not my 2017 Grand Sport nor my C8 as wear was uniform. Figure no reason to “disturb” the tire cord load direction with uniform wear!
