Has anyone had it get stuck, as in, I was unable to push it in and open the console? It did it this weekend for the first time. I was able to finally put enough pressure on it and the lid, to get it open (I needed something out of it).
Even with the lid open, the button would still not go in. It did not seem like there was an obstruction. I ended up closing the lid, got out and had lunch, and when I came back, all the sudden it was working again like nothing had happened.
I just took delivery and have the same issue. Looks like 2-3 weeks to get the part based on thread replies. Anyone know how long it takes for the repair?
Just started happening to my '24. I suspect because I close the lid too forcefully.
It actually just pulls straight out. No disassembly of the center console is required. With the lid open, you can use a flathead screwdriverz or in my case the tip of a click pen.
This picture shows it upside down. That square hole on the far side is the catch for the latch. It's that area you push on to pop it out.
Thought that maybe its a good thing, I see I can clean it and lubricate it more easily.
I suspect the plastic clip is just not sized properly. And it deformed too much at some point. But it could also be that judging by the look, that too much grease was used.
I wonder if you bend the clip ends (the part that looks like an arrow) out a little bit if it will catch better/permanently. I’d rather try that than have them disassemble anything, but I’d worry about snapping them off.
I also don’t want the dealer to disassemble the whole console just for that little button.

Yeah, I've broken too many plastic parts trying to bend them back.
Just spitballing too,
>Maybe a weaker spring
>Cut the spring shorter
>do some plastic welding to enlarge the tangs, so they lock in better.
>Maybe shave the latch down or enlarge the catch hole so that it doesn't push as far.
>combinations
But with any mechanism with moving parts, changing anything could screw it all up. Iterations would be helpful, but not going to touch that knowing about a parts shortage.
Any update on what causes this failure? September 2023 build with only 700 miles and mine failed just like this too. Doesn't bother me too much though- probably won't bother getting it replaced until right before the warranty expires or if I'm in for other warranty work. If there's a no-cost DIY fix I'd rather just do that, honestly.
Mine has been doing it since day one. Sometimes the greasy bastard will pop all the way out. Having the dealer look at it when they do the trans filter.
Started happening on my '22 recently. Dealer can't order the part becuase their computers are still down due to the cyber hack hitting many dealers.
Interestingly, my '20 shop manual shows it as a being held in by two bolts. Maybe a design "improvement" for later models. I supect the replacement might do the same thing over time.
This just started happening on my 22 recently as well. Little button pops out like everyone else. At least in my case, it sort of seems like the plastic rod that is sleeved by the spring was a bit deformed and finally snapped off sadly. Apologies in advance for some of the...less than ideal pictures
Button assembly Interior button insert channel 2 button assembly - spring removed broken/deformed/worn down plastic "rod" ?
I'm guessing without that rod making contact in the back, the sliding mechanism that releases the hook/clip on the top isn't engaging since it's driven by the spring on the (now) broken rod. Sadly I'm not seeing a super simple DIY fix for this one aside from doing something crazy with the 3d printer. Of course then we're back to plastic/ABS again. Hrrrrrrm. Going to keep thinking on it, just because I can't help myself
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
