But the union is trying strike plants that will hurt GM's revenue the most. The Corvette is a blip on GM's bottom line. I doubt they'll strike against BGA unless they strike against all of GM. A bigger risk is that they strike the Tonawanda engine factory.
The C8 has had more than it's fair share of woe be-gones. 2019 UAW strike, 2020 Covid shut down, 2021 and 22 Supply Chain issues, shortage of chipset. But I digress. Corvette might not be a big money maker like the Silverado, but it is a Crown Jewel. 2 shifts full bore with a waiting list into the next year. Looks pretty tempting to me. Kind of a coup de grace.
My guess is if it gets hit, it will be due to lack of parts, before BG or engine plant is hit... and that could bring reliability issues, if GM is forced to source parts from different suppliers at the last minute. It just takes 1 part to not finish a car. Experts say the situation is not looking good, but nobody knows when it's going to end, and how. I'll be watching.
