Any tricks for the suction cup to hold and not falling off?

Use the built in PDR... or buy a quality mount like Blendmount.

I am using Viofo's, which came with the antistatic stickers, in my other cars. Those have worked the best for me so far. I have also had difficulties with suction cup mounts.

No Tricks.
My experience is that even with the glass and suction cup extremely clean, or with new cups, heat (from the sun mostly) will detach the suction cup.
Velco can be of assistance, or as mentioned above a dedicated mounting system.
Good luck.

This. I was pleasantly surprised that it can be configured to come on every drive.

Clean spot on windshield where you will mount cup with alcohol.

I used 91% isopropyl alcohol and clean the glass thoroughly before using suction cups and have never had an issue in any of my vehicles. The first few times you park in direct sunlight, you may want to push up to get the air out as it will expand a little in the heat.

In my other cars I use RamMount and they hold well however as mentioned previously sitting in hot sun can cause them to loosen. Since in FL we often use sun shades, I generally take it off if the shade is going up. If you have PDR, unlike the C7 the C8 can be set to go on/off with the car

Just like a radar detector's suction mounts, none of them will stay attached! forever without coming loose. I attach mine on a freestanding mount.
