I have a 3lt. My dash was replaced three months ago because it started to bubble and crack. Well it is doing it again even worse with the replacement. I am out if warranty now I am at 37,000 miles. Since the dealer recently replaced my dash is there some sort of warranty with them since they replaced it?
Do you have a picture of this defect? I would like to know what I'm looking for in case it happens on my 3LT.
Hey gang, may I ask how does the LT2 dash and upper doors look compared to 3LT? Does the vinyl material look crappy by comparison? And finally, how thin is the leather on 3LTs? I ask because the leather covered doors and dash on my ex-Porsche with full leather interior was paper thin. I accidentally ripped the leather on the dash when I hit it with my thumb's nail (and yes, it was trimmed) when grabbing something. Couldn't believe how freaking thin it was. Hardly worth paying thousands of dollars for it, plus the extra maintenance needed. So wonder if the 2LT doesn't look crappy, to get that instead. Especially now that all of these issues are reported. I don't want to touch a dealer after getting delivery of my vehicles. Thank you.
I have seen the C8 dash delamination problem on 1LT, 2LT and 3LT's. The dash is modular and comes apart very easily, making DIY fixes possible by re-gluing the material back with a stronger glue, or you can take the pieces out and take them to a shop that will re-glue them for you. This is not my video but shows how to disassemble the C8 dash.
You haven't seen it on a 1LT - 3LT C6 because they don't have a leather dash.
That's what I meant to say. The 1LT-3LT dashes on C6's weren't leather so no issues but the 4LT had a leather wrapped dash and it did have issues. Hence why GM apparently hasn't figured out how to glue down a leather dash without it peeling back.

I'm not sure how many people are willing to tackle that project on a $100k car. I wouldn't trust the GM techs either as they are not interior upholstery tradesmen. Mechanics, yes but that can be questionable at times, but definitely not body and interior tradesmen. It's like asking a plumber to do electrical work.
