After being on the list of a small dealer for a couple years, I was offered a Z51 allocation, which I declined as it wasn't what I wanted. The salesman then told me that the dealer decided to use that allocation for a stock order. The dealer also has another stock order in inventory. And, as far as I know, they are selling at MSRP. I'm not sure why they didn't go to the next person on the list after I declined. It seems like they have no other buyers lined up.
I placed my order on 5/11. Car was built 10/6. Someone just posted last week that they ordered in August and their car will be produced this coming week. so yes, things have changed buy you still have a wait......
After spending months on the MM list, I spoke to a few small local dealers. I had an allocation within a few weeks and I took delivery of my 2024 in just under two months from when I got on their list. I would say the market has changed considerably.
I’ve been on a list since March 2022 and was just offered a Z51 allocation yesterday but declined. I have a feeling they won’t be calling me back for months. I just don’t want a Z51.
I live in a small town and have passed several opportunities to order. It's a short to nonexistent list at one time the local dealer had one on the floor I don't think there is much interest in our area.
Not for nothing but 2023 was the highest Corvette production year (albeit it an 'extended' MY) in history with approx. 53,000 produced. C8 production 4 years in is well over 120K. At some point, the market has to cool. All those folks that had to have one either have it or have lost interest.

The reason they didn't go to the next person was they didn't have anybody who wanted Z-51. I go through this all the time. Most of the customers on my list don't want Z51 so if I can't get anybody to change then I have to order a car for stock so we don't lose the allocation.

120k cars seems like a lot, but it's really a drop in the bucket. If you look at 2023 the 53,000 accounts for .3% of car sales in the US. That's one third of one percent, not significant in the least. There are a lot of people that still haven't even seen a C8. My local dealer still has a one year waiting list with deposits and they are in the top 10% of Corvette selling Chevrolet dealers. Production of SR will continue to drop off because they can only build so many cars a year and with E-Ray and Z06 taking a bunch of spots away from SR, it isn't going to fall off a cliff like some wish for.

The C8's overall share of the U.S. new car sales is meaningless. The fact remains that supply is increasing while demand is decreasing (due in no small part to rising interest rates).
I just got a call yesterday from my local Dealership that my name finally came up for ordering a C8!...I placed my name on their list over 20 months ago....I also placed my name on MMs list at the same time and have had my C8 for close to 11 months now!

Interesting.... let me say, "ditto" to the stories told here.
Ive been on the wait list since the first of the year. I received a call from my local dealer on Thursday with a Z51 allocation. I prefer a non-Z51 but everything else matches. I gave it a lot of thought then said "pass." If Im going to spend $100k on a toy, it needs to be exact. It's a lot of money to me.
The salesman asked if he could find someone to trade the current Z51 allocation for a non-Z51 allocation would I still be interested. "Yes" is the answer. A few hours later he called back and the deal was sealed.
I ordered my 3LT non-Z51 with all the bells and whistles this week! It's been a long wait.
